Harry Freeburg Jr., 92
Funeral services for Harry E. Freeburg were held
at Lake Sarah Lutheran Church in Garvin, MN on Monday,
April 21, 2008 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Charles
Lindgren officiating. The organist was Marge
Lindgren with special music by Heath and Luke Radke.
The pallbearers were grandchildren, Darin Kepler,
Travis Lorenz, Amy Boleen, Matthew Freeburg, Mark
Freeburg, Dan Braun, Adam Gerber, and Nathan Gerber.
Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren, Jesse
Freeburg, Paul Freeburg, David Freeburg, Brent Braun,
Todd Lorenz, Troy Herding, and Paul Herding.
Harry Freeburg was born on March 2, 1916 on a farm
near Walnut Grove, Minnesota to Harry and Dorothea
Berg Freeburg Sr. He grew up on the family
farm and attended Slayton High School. In
1942 Harry enlisted in the United States Army.
Harry was stationed at Leyte Island in the Philippines
then to Okinawa, Manila, Luzan Island and later
in Korea. He served with the 2nd Sound Locator
Team.
On December 30, 1942 he and Ethel Hendricksen were
married in Brooklyn, NY. Following his discharge
in 1945 Harry and Ethel moved to the family farm
in Lake Sarah Township. Harry farmed and raised
Charolais cattle. He also was office manager at
the Murray County ASCS office and served on the
Soil Conservation Board.
Ethel passed away on December 15, 1990. In
2003 Harry moved to the Westside Apartments in Slayton.
In September 2005 Harry became a resident of the
Golden Living Center-Slayton and passed away there
on April 18, 2008 at the age of 92.
He was a member of the Lake Sarah Lutheran Church
in Garvin, MN and served on the church council.
Harry served as a Lake Sarah Township Supervisor.
He also was a member of the Tracy VFW Post and the
Garvin American Legion Post. Harry enjoyed
spending time with his family, coffee time, farm
sales, reading, and playing cards.
Survivors include his five children and their spouses;
Barbara Mueller of Mankato, MN, Russell and Grace
Freeburg of Garvin, MN, Bruce and Marge Freeburg,
Beverly and Gary Lorenz, and Eileen and Bruce Gerber
all of Slayton, MN; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren,
two sisters, Helen Sagmoen of Slayton, and Irene
Reynolds of Weirsdale, FL, and two brother in-laws,
Harvey Reynolds of Edgemont, SD, and Jack Brugger
of Winona, MN.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ethel, two
grandsons, Kevin Kepler and Troy Lorenz, and three
sisters, Genevieve Hobert, Delores Brugger, and
Dorothy Mae Reynolds.
Interment was at Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton,
MN. Military honors provided by the Tracy
VFW Post and the Garvin American Legion Post. The
Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton handled the arrangements.

Death Notice
Vergil Bauer of Westbrook, MN, formerly of Tracy,
MN died Sunday, April 20, 2008 at the Sanford-Sioux
Valley Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Services
will be 11:00 AM Friday, April 25, 2008 at the Tracy
Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 until
8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the Almlie
Funeral Home in Tracy and continuing one hour prior
to the service at the church in Tracy. Interment
will be at the Tracy City Cemetery.
