Evelyn Schaar, 95
Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 14,
2008 at the United Methodist Church in Lamberton,
MN for Evelyn Della (Kolander) Schaar, age 95 of
Lamberton, MN. The Clergy was Pastor Theodora K.
Hall.
Evelyn Della Schaar was born August 25, 1912 near
Lakefield, the daughter of Emil and Erna (Bauer)
Kolander. She was baptized on September 15, 1912
and confirmed on March 28, 1926 at the Delafield
Church in Lakefield, MN.
She was united in marriage to Arnold (Pete) Schaar
on April 4, 1931 at the Delafield Church. She was
a member of the United Methodist Church in Lamberton
where she participated with teaching Sunday School
and Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Lamberton
Reading Club.
Evelyn enjoyed playing and teaching Bridge, loved
to knit - making sure every family member had an
afghan, spending many years at Lake Florida near
Spicer, wintering in Arizona, and especially loved
her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Evelyn died on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at the Valley
View Manor Care Center in Lamberton at the age of
95 years.
She is survived by 2 children - Gary and wife Barbara
Schaar of Walnut Grove and Linda and husband Brian
Kosel of Owatonna; a son-in-law - Paul Bouchard
of Florida; 9 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren;
a sister - Vernetta (Sue) Butler of Lamberton; and
friend Marvin Beaver of Missouri.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband
- Arnold on August 31, 1986; a son - Merton Schaar;
a daughter - Lorean (Schaar) Bouchard; a daughter-in-law
- Mardelle Schaar; 5 sisters, and 2 brothers.
Interment was at the Lamberton Cemetery. Arrangements
were with the Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton, MN.

Walter Buzzell
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August
23, 2008 for Walter Buzzell. The service will be
held at 10:30 a.m. at Tracy Alliance Church, 311
Front Street, Tracy.
Warren Nelson, 82
A memorial service was held Saturday, August 16,
2008 at Sillerud Lutheran Church in Balaton for
Warren “Arty” Arthur Nelson. Rev. Steven
Quist officiated. Organist was Don Swanjord with
special music by Bruce Drackley.
Arty Nelson was born on April 7, 1926 in Tyler,
Minnesota to John and Vendal Vieman Nelson.
He grew up on the family farm and attended country
school. On October 29, 1950 Arty enlisted
in the United States Army and served in Germany.
On June 22, 1951 he and Patricia Ann Moat were married
at her parents home. Following his discharge
on October 6, 1952 they returned to the family farm
in Ellsborough Township, where they farmed and raised
their three children.
In 1988, they moved to Slayton and Arty worked at
Finley Engineering in Slayton as the maintenance
man for 16 years. Arty also helped his son,
Jerry on the farm.
Arty passed away on August 13, 2008 at his home
in Slayton at the age of 82. He was a member
of Sillerud Lutheran Church in rural Balaton, MN.
Arty served as Chairman of the Board at Atena Church
in Ruthton, MN. He also was a member of the
Slayton American Legion Post #64. Arty was
known in Murray County as Mr. Fix-it.
Arty’s pride and joy were his grandsons and
his flower garden. Arty enjoyed spending time
with his family and friends, fishing, fixing and
repairing things, mowing lawn and farming.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Nelson of Slayton,
MN, three children and their spouses, Judy and Bruce
Gellerman of Prior Lake, MN, Jeff and Lynn Nelson
of Fulda, MN, and Jerry and Chris Nelson of Balaton,
MN, two grandsons, Justin Nelson and Cody Nelson,
four sisters, Helen Bailey of Camden, NJ, Edna Nothem
of Canby, MN, Marie Mortland of Marshall, MN, and
Alice Olson and her husband, Robert of North Platt,
NE.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two infant
sisters, one infant brother, three brothers, Herb,
Rueben, and Charles Nelson, and two sisters, Hilda
Nelson and Selma Nelson.
Interment is at Sillerud Lutheran Cemetery, rural
Balaton, MN. Military honors accorded by the Slayton
American Legion Post # 64.

Jerome Silver, 72
Born on August 27, 1935, in Tracy, MN, Jereome Lee
Silver passed away on August 3, 2008, after a long
battle with Alzheimer’s disease in Carmichael,
Calif., at the age of 72.
Beloved husband of 50 years to C.J. Thomas. He will
be greatly missed by his four sons Barry and wife
Cynthia, Anthony, Christopher and wife September,
Daniel and wife Ann; grandchildren Noelle, Sean,
Colin, and Ryan Silver along with Shane Gidlund.
He is survived by sisters Constance Silver and Patricia
Minsenti and her husband Jack; brothers James Silver,
his wife Regina, Donald Silver and his wife Phyllis.
Preceded in death by his parents Bernard Silver
and Nora Bustad. Jerome started Remington Rand in
1958 and retired from Unisys in 1991. Services were
held at St. Clare Catholic Church, 1950 Junction
Blvd, Roseville, CA 95747, on Thursday, August 7,
2008.
Liam McKinney, 25
Liam Kevin McKinney, age 25 of Superior, Wisconsin,
formerly of Walnut Grove passed away Tuesday, August
12, 2008 in Superior, Wisconsin.
Liam was born January 4, 1983 in Oxnard California
to parents Joel Kevin McKinney of Walnut Grove and
Valerie Sue (Knox) Sobrack of Fairfax.
Liam is survived by his wife Megan (Wahto) McKinney
of Superior, Wisconsin and his unborn child.
He is also survived by both parents, three grandparents,
brother Justin McKinney of Russell and sister Erin
Schenk of Marshall.
Liam was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather
John Gordon McKinney.
Liam had a smile that would light up a room and
will be deeply missed by his wife, family and friends.
He loved a wide range of music, was an intelligent
writer who also loved to draw and had many, many
friends.
Interment will be in the North Hero Cemetery, located
two miles north of Walnut Grove.
A public memorial will be held Saturday, August
23 at the Marshall, MN Armory from 1-4 p.m.
