Virginia Anderson, 90
Services for Virginia B. Anderson,
90, of Tracy, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday,
September 27 at Tracy Lutheran Church in Tracy.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services
at the church on Saturday. Burial is in Rapid City,
S.D. The Tracy Area Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
She died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at the Sanford
Tracy Hospital.
Survivors include her children: Kathryn Howley of
Rapid City, S.D., Jim of Marshall, Karen Coleman
of Inver Grove Heights, Karel of Phoenix, Ariz.,
John of Maryville, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; and 21
great-grandchildren.
Tom Vandeputte, 59
Thomas Donald Vandeputte age 59 of Lake Crystal,
MN, formerly of Tracy, MN, died Friday, September
19, 2008 at the Veteran’s Home in Minneapolis,
MN. Services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, September
25, 2008 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church
in Tracy. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00
PM Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at the Almlie Funeral
Home in Tracy, with a rosary at 4:00 PM and a prayer
service at 7:30 PM. Interment will be at the Calvary
Cemetery in Tracy. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy
is handling the arrangements.
Thomas Donald Vandeputte was born July 23, 1949
to Donald and Mary (VanDeWiele) Vandeputte in Tracy,
MN. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in Tracy and attended St. Mary’s
Catholic School. He then attended Tracy High School
and graduated in 1967. After graduation he enrolled
in college at St. Thomas for a year and then the
University of Minnesota before he was drafted into
the U. S. Army on February 27, 1969.
On May 10, 1969 Tom married Patricia Curtis at St.
Ann’s Catholic Church in Slayton, MN. They
made their home on an army base in California as
Tom finished his training as a crewman on a helicopter.
He served in the U. S. Army 1st Cavalry Division
in Vietnam from March through December of 1970.
Upon his return to the United States he was granted
his honorable discharge and returned to the home
farm near Tracy and farmed with his father.
Tom farmed until 1980 when he moved to Slayton,
MN and was a partner in the J & V Implement
in Slayton for a couple of years. He then went to
work for the PCA, now Farm Credit Services, in Slayton
in 1983 until 1989.
On June 24, 1983 Tom married Shirley Erickson at
the United Methodist Church in Slayton where they
made their home. In 1989 they moved to Lake Crystal,
MN where Tom went to work for a bank as the farm
loan agent until his retirement in 2003.
He was a past member of the St. Mary’s Catholic
Church in Tracy and was an alter server in his youth.
Tom enjoyed trap shooting, golfing, hunting, and
fishing. He and his wife also enjoyed traveling
together to many parts of the country.
On August 20, 2008 Tom entered the Minnesota Veteran’s
Home in Minneapolis, MN because of failing health.
On Friday, September 19, 2008 Tom died at the age
of 59.
Tom is survived by his wife, Shirley Vandeputte
of Lake Crystal, MN; his mother, Mary Vandeputte
of Tracy, MN; two sons, Scott of Spicer, MN and
Justin of Chaska, MN; two grandchildren, Hunter
and Lexi Vandeputte of Spicer, MN; one brother,
Dennis Vandeputte of Tracy, MN; 1 niece and 1 nephew,
both of Canby; many cousins and a host of friends.
His father, Donald, one sister, Diane and infant
brother, John preceded him in death.
