Sheryl Harris, 60

Sheryl Lea Harris was born March 21, 1948 in Tracy, MN to Maxine and Dale Kassel.  Sheryl graduated from Walnut Grove High School and attended Mankato State College and the Mankato School of Cosmetology.  Sheryl married Richard Harris in 1970.  Two children, Roseanne and Mark were born to that union.

Sheryl worked in agribusiness, ADM and the Byron Elevator, as a grain accountant for 23 years.  She and Richard moved to Arizona in 1996 where for ten years she did general office work for Deerfield Moving and Storage Company.

Sheryl enjoyed travel, entertaining her friends and family and restoring furniture.  For many years she was active in the Episcopal Church at Red Wing, Kasson and Rochester.

Sheryl will be remembered for her many kindnesses, personal integrity and her rational optimism.  She was an outstanding employee, loyal, given to accuracy and attention to detail.  Most especially to her family and friends Sheryl, in the face of adversity, exemplified courage, strength and forgiveness.

Sheryl died of colon cancer on October 29, 2008 in Sun City, AZ.

Sheryl’s parents and daughter preceded her in death.  Her husband Richard, son Mark (Andrea) grandsons, William and Samuel, sister Laurel (Roland Tadd), brother Ron Kassel (Betty), nephews and niece and several aunts, uncles, and cousins survive her.

For those who knew her and loved her, Sheryl’s friendship was a treasure, her love inestimable and her life a priceless gift.

Dibble Funeral Home, Kasson, is in charge of arrangements.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, at 2 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Kasson.


 

Rene Timmerman, 102

Rene L. Timmerman age 102 of Balaton, MN died Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Balaton.  Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy, MN.  Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8  p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.  Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Tracy.  The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.

Hazel Wynia, 91

Hazel Wynia age 91, formerly of Tracy, MN died October 15, 2008 in Circle Pines, MN.

Services for Hazel were held Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy.  Interment was held at the Hoiland Cemetery, rural Tracy.  The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handled the arrangements.

Hazel Alvina Wynia was born March 20, 1917 to Alfred and Nettie Kenly in Tracy, MN.  She attended Tracy Public Schools and graduated from Tracy High School.  She was the Tracy Box Car Day Queen in 1936.  After high school she attended the Minnesota School of Business and then worked in the Murray County courthouse.

On November 30, 1940 Hazel married Rudolph Wynia.  They made their home in the metro area for a short time before moving back to a farm in the Tracy and Slayton area.  They farmed from 1945 until 1960 and then moved to Roseville, MN.  Rudy and Hazel then moved to Circle Pines, MN in 1971.  After Rudy’s death in September of 1999, Hazel remained in their home with her daughter, Drexel until her death on October 15, 2008.  She is remembered for her love of sewing, crafts, entertaining relatives for Sunday dinner, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Hazel is survived by her son, Rudolph “Butch” (Terri) Wynia of Roseville, MN; two daughters, Hjordes (Nelbert) Starkson of Cottage Grove, MN and Drexel Kay Wynia of Circle Pines, MN; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one sister, Deallis (Robert) Rykhus of Tracy, MN; many nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Rudy and her parents preceded her in death.
