Jean Edwards Dorsey, 85

Jean Etta Edwards Dorsey, 85, of La Crescenta, CA died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the home of her daughter in Grover Beach, CA after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  Memorial service held at the La Crescenta First Baptist Church on May 1, 2009.  A private graveside service was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, CA.

Jean Etta Edwards was born April 19, 1924 to John and Elizabeth Edwards of Garvin, MN.  Her father was killed on June 22, 1924 in a tornado at their farm west of Tracy.  She was raised by her mother and eight brothers and sisters.  In 1942, she graduated from Tracy High School and traveled to California to work.

On January 16, 1944, she married Leland Dorsey.  They had two daughters, Donna Ann and Korla Jean who survive with four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Una Sandbo and Viola Tunstall, and brothers William, Floyd, Mervin, Ervin and Harold.

She is also survived by her sister Ethel DeBlieck of Kasson, sister-in-law Bernice Edwards of Tracy and many nieces and nephews.
