Donna Shaw, 79
Donna J. Shaw age 79 of Tracy, MN
died Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. Services were held today, Wednesday,
August 12, 2009 at Tracy Lutheran Church.
Donna Jean Shaw was born November 5,
1929 to Carl and Cora (Larson) Eilefson in Walnut Grove, MN, Cottonwood
County. She was baptized on May
24, 1930 and confirmed on January 1, 1943 in the Christian faith. Donna attended Walnut Grove Public
Schools and graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1947.
On June 4, 1949 Donna married
Kenneth Shaw at Tracy Lutheran Church. They made their home in Tracy and over the years Donna worked in retail
sales. She was employed by Judy
Lee’s, Suit Yourself and then Midwest Supply in Tracy, before going to work for
Wal-Mart in Marshall since it opened in 1991. Many will remember Donna as the person who answered the
phones during the day at Wal-Mart and she also worked in women’s apparel. She loved and cherished the many years
at Wal-Mart and the many friends she had made over the years there.
She was a member of Tracy Lutheran
Church, and had been active in the Ladies’ Aid. Donna was also a member of the Tracy Hospital Auxiliary and
committed to various community organizations. She enjoyed golf, bowling, card club, gardening, couples
dancing and especially spending time with her family and friends. Donna will also be remembered for her
smile and strong character through her illness.
On August 4, 2009 Donna became a
resident of the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall, MN, where she died, surrounded
by her loving family, Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the age of 79.
Donna is survived by her husband,
Ken of Tracy, MN; three daughters, Nancy (Chuck) Leonard of Kimball, MN,
Candace (David) Saelens of Burnsville, MN and DeAnn (Joseph) Sinatra of Wallingford,
CT; one son, David (Kathi) Shaw of Sartell, MN; ten grandchildren; nine great
grandchildren; two sisters, Inez Rains, of Wichita, KS and Sonja Paulson of
Fargo, ND; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Her parents, one son, Mark, one
brother, Clinton and two sisters, Margaret Soll and Bernetta Hoepner preceded
her in death.
Interment was in the Tracy City
Cemetery. The Almlie Funeral Home
of Tracy handled the arrangements.
