Melvin Buck, 86
Melvin Albert Buck age 86 of Tracy
passed away on Friday, September 4, 2009 at Sanford Tracy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Tracy United Methodist
Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at
the Walnut Grove Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on
Friday. Interment is in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Email

Walnut Grove Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Melvin was born June 5, 1923 at home
in Amiret Township, Lyon County, MN to Herman and Anna (Bollman) Buck. He
attended school district #13 at Amiret. He then began farming with his
father until April 1946 when he entered the US Army. He was stationed in
the Philippines during WWII. In November 1947 Melvin received his
honorable discharge. He returned home and resumed farming.
On December 28, 1969, Melvin was
united in marriage to Lucille Hewitt Finger. Melvin retired in 1982, and
the couple moved to a home on Lake Sarah near Garvin, MN. In 1987 they
began wintering in Arizona, which they enjoyed for 18 years. They moved
to Slayton in 1996 until Melvin entered Prairie View Healthcare Center in June
2007. Melvin was a member of the Amiret Methodist Church, and later the
Tracy Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Tracy VFW. He
enjoyed gardening, wood working and fishing.
Melvin is survived by stepchildren:
Larry (Denise) Finger of Smithville, MO, Bette (Steve) Ourada of Walnut Grove
and Duane (Marilyn) Finger of Kimball, MN; grandchildren: Cindi (Ben) Brinson,
Pam (Frank) LaRocca, Steve (Teri) Ourada, Renee (David) Pederson, Wesley
(Rebecca) Finger, Christina (John) Strong and Leana Finger (special friend
Nathan Thompson); eight great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents, wife
Lucille, five brothers and four sisters.
Donald Scott, 77
Donald W. Scott age 77 of Tracy, MN
died Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Slayton,
MN. Services will be held 11:00
a.m. Friday, September 18, 2009 at Tracy United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00
p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2009 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, with a
prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and continuing one hour prior to the service at the
church on Friday. Interment will
be at the Tracy City Cemetery. The
Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.
Donald Willis Scott was born July 6,
1932 to Willis and Gladys (MaKovsky) Scott in Balaton, MN, Lyon County. He was baptized and confirmed in the
Christian faith and attended country school. As a young man Donald farmed with
his parents and brother on the family farm north of Tracy. He served in the National Guard during
the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.
On August 12, 1951 Donald married
Delores “Dolly” Johnson at the Tracy United Methodist Church. They made their home in Minneapolis, MN
and St. Louis Park, MN for twelve years, during which time; he managed Justice
Lumber in Hopkins, MN. In 1964
they returned to the Tracy/ Garvin area to resume farming. In addition to farming, he drove school
bus for the Tracy School District for twenty years, and was a route salesman
for Tracy Bottling Company. Although he retired in 1994, Donald still helped out with as much as he
could with the farm.
Donald was a member of the Tracy
United Methodist Church and served as usher for many years. He also was a member of the Tracy
American Legion, Tracy Lions Club and served on the Monroe Township Board for
twelve years. He enjoyed deer
hunting, especially with his grandson, Michael and for over forty years with
friends, gardening, carpentry and woodworking, helping his children and
grandchildren with 4-H projects, and discussing current events. Recently he had also enjoyed camping
with his family. Donald will
forever be remembered by his family for going to great lengths to help and
support his family.
On August 26, 2009, Donald entered
under Murray County Hospice care, into the Golden Living Center in Slayton, MN,
where he died, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, September 5, 2009
at the age of 77.
Donald is survived by his wife of
fifty-eight years, Dolly Scott of Tracy, MN; two sons, David (Lori) Scott of
Barnesville, MN and Ronald (April) Scott of Tracy, MN; one daughter, Susan
(Bart) Meyer of Tracy, MN; five grandchildren, Michael (Sara) Scott of Chaska,
MN, Brittany Scott, and friend, Chad Zacharieson of Bloomington, MN, Jessica
and Jacob Meyer of Tracy, MN and Hannah Scott of Tracy, MN; one great grandson,
Isaac Scott of Chaska, MN; father, Willis Scott of Tracy, MN; one brother, Dale
(Doris) Scott of Tracy, MN; one uncle, Lester Scott of WA; many nieces,
nephews, and cousins, and a host of friends.
His mother, Gladys Scott, one infant
sister, and one nephew, Robert Scott preceded him in death.
