Vivian Schumacher, 91

Vivian I. Schumacher age 91 of Tracy, MN passed away on Monday, October 26, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Excelsior, MN.  Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2009 at the Tracy  Presbyterian  Church in Tracy.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.  Interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery.  The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.  Online condolences may be placed at www.almliefh.com.

Vivian Irene Schumacher was born April 10, 1918 to Ralph and Edna (Andrews) Jewell in Redwood County, MN.  She lived all of her life in Tracy where she was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at the Tracy Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Tracy Public Schools as valedictorian of her class at the age of 16.

On December 30, 1942 Vivian married George William Schumacher in Lyon County, MN and made their home in Tracy.  After her husband’s death in 1981, Vivian remained in Tracy until moving to the Golden Living Center in Excelsior, MN in 2004 to be near her family.

Vivian worked as Head Cook at the Tracy Municipal Hospital for 25 years and was a loving caregiver for many people including her mother.  Over the years, she was a member of the American Legion and Tracy Hospital Auxiliary.  Vivian loved reading, cooking, everyone loved her homemade pies, loved her cats Honey and Blackie, and loved to spend time with her friends and family. 

On Monday, October 26, 2009 Vivian passed away at the Golden Living Center in Excelsior, MN surrounded by her loving family at the age of 91.

Vivian is survived by her one son, Eugene (Lea) Schumacher of Minnetonka, MN; two daughters, Janet (Chuck) Swimm of Berea, KY and Vicki (Jack) Krucker of Watertown, SD; twelve grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a host of friends.

Her parents, husband George, sister Lois Johnson, and grandson Brian Schumacher preceded her in death.  Blessed be her memory.
