Celestine (Sally) (Hanson) Dunn, 89
A Mass of Christian Burial was held
on Wed., Jan. 14 at 9 a.m. at St.
Charles Borremo Catholic Church in Tacoma, WA for Celestine (Sally) P. Dunn
(Hanson). Sally passed away
peacefully on Jan. 8, 2009 at Regency Nursing Home in Puyallup, WA at the age
of 89.
She was born Feb. 1, 1919 in
Canistota, SD the 7th of 13 children born to Albert and Ceclia Determan. Sally married Rolland
Hanson in Marshall, MN where they farmed for 30 years in Milroy and Tracy, MN.
while raising 7 children.
She also worked as a nurses aid at
the local hospital.
In 1971 Sally and Rolland moved to
Tacoma where she later worked for St. Charles Parish as a cook and
housekeeper. The fathers always
loved her brownies and chocolate chip cookies.
She is survived by husband Alex F.
Dunn of Puyallup WA; sons Richard Hanson (Sharleen), Donald Hanson (Judy),
Kenneth Hanson (Cora) and daughters, Diann Zerfas (Steve), Doreen Sumerfelt
(Steve Douglas), Reneé Kinard (Claude); 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;
step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Sally was preceded in death by son,
John H. Hanson, husband Rolland Hanson and all 12 of her siblings.
Let us draw from mom’s strength to
accept God’s will and know mom is resting in the hands of the Lord.
James Wyffels, 74
James F. Wyffels age 74 of Tracy, MN
died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls,
SD. Services will be 1:00 p.m.
Friday, January 30, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00
p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, with a
rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.. Visitation will continue one hour prior
to the service at the church on Friday.
James Frank Wyffels was born
February 26, 1934 to Frank and Emma (Lidtke) Wyffels in Marshall, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the
Christian faith and moved with his family to a farm north of Tracy, MN when he
was four years old. He attended
Tracy Public Schools and graduated from Tracy High School in 1951. Jim then attended a one year program at
Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, MN for Machinery and Agricultural
Mechanics. He returned home and
farmed with his father.
On February 3, 1954 Jim married
Juliean Girard at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. They made their home on the Wyffels
family farm in Amiret Township, north of Tracy. In 1970 James suffered a severe spinal injury that resulted
in his inability to continue farming. They sold the farm and moved into Tracy in 1974 where they continued to
live until his death.
Jim was a member of the St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in Tracy and in the past was active in the CCW. He also was a current member of the
Tracy Eagles Club and a past member of the NFO, Regional Meat Board and the
Saratoga Archery Club near Amiret, MN, which he was one of the founding
members. Jim was a great lover of
the outdoors in his younger years, enjoying hunting, fishing, swimming and
archery, which he taught to all his children. He also was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and
Vikings.
On Sunday, January 25, 2009 Jim
became a patient of the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD where he died
at the age of 74.
Jim is survived by his wife, Julie
Wyffels of Tracy, MN; one son, Steve (Gayle) Wyffels of Savage, MN; two
daughters, Kathleen Pamp (fiancé, Roger Quade) of Jeffers, MN and Peggy Wyffels
of Plattsmouth, NE; step-mother, Anne Wyffels of Crystal Falls, MI; one sister,
Judy (Jeremy) Wild of Imporia, KS; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
His parents, and one sister and her
husband, Arlene (Everett) Haunson preceded him in death.
Interment will be at the Calvary
Cemetery in Tracy.
