Howard Sayre, 89

Memorial services were held Nov. 2, 2009 in Tucson, AZ for Howard W. Sayre, 89, of Tucson.  He passed away Oct. 26 at the home of his daughter.

Howard was born Dec. 3, 1919 in Anoka, MN and as a young man came to the Tracy/Walnut Grove area to work on various farms for room and board.  He joined the Minnesota National Guard and served his country in the US Army during WWII, Korean War and Vietnam.  He retired from the military in 1971.

He is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Mark) Small of Tucson, AZ; sons Art (Pat) Sayre of Marana, AZ and Michael (Carol) Sayre; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Bernita (B.G.) Weber Sayre.

 

 

Rita Van De Wiele, 88

Rita M. Van De Wiele age 88 of Tracy, formerly of Walnut Grove, passed away, Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 6th at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Walnut Grove with interment in the church cemetery.  Fr. Robert Mraz is officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church with a CCW rosary service at 5:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Thursday, one hour prior to the service.  Online condolences may be sent at www.tracyareafuneralhome.com.  The Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rita M. (Thielges) Van De Wiele was born July 27, 1921 in St. Leo, MN to Adam & Bertha (Dittberner) Thielges.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.  Rita attended school at St. Leo.  After her schooling, Rita helped new mothers caring for their children; and other families in need.  On November 25, 1941,

Rita was united in marriage to Oscar Van De Wiele at St. Leo’s Catholic Church.  The couple moved to Walnut Grove where they farmed north of town, and later east of Walnut Grove where they farmed most of their married life.  In 1995, Rita moved to O’Brien Court in Tracy.  She entered the Tracy Nursing Home in December 2006, and later moved to Prairie View Health Care Center where she’s resided since. 

Rita was a member of the ladies guild at both St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Walnut Grove, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially celebrating family events.  She also enjoyed taking pictures, gardening and cooking & baking.

Rita is survived by her children: David (Doreen) of Tracy, Leon (Sharon) of Cannon Falls, Robert (Diane) of Warrensburg, MO, John (Lorna) of Sugar Land, TX, Harold (Julie) of Rochester, MN, Denis (Andrea) of Hockley, TX, Audrey (Bernard) Winrich of Butterfield,  Mark (Tammy) of River Falls, WI, and Jane (Al) Weis of Little Falls; 26 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; sisters: Marie (Henry) Stoks of Marshall, Sister Janet Thielges OSB of St. Joseph, Lucille (Dave) Welu of Chicago, IL, Jeanette (Jerry) Hennen of Fargo, ND; brothers: Luverne Thielges of Canby, Alois Thielges of Marshall, and Ralph Thielges of Marshall; and many other relatives and friends. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Oscar, grandson Dan, daughter in law Nancy, and siblings: Della Forsblad, Irene Thielges, Phyllis Livermore, Alice Thielges, Arthur Thielges, Donald Thielges, and Matt Thielges.

Barbara Wildey, 75

Barbara Bell Wildey, age 75 of Tracy, formerly of Glencoe, passed away at her home on Thursday, April 29, 2010.  Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 6 at the Tracy Area Funeral Home.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.  Interment is in Tracy Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent at www.tracyareafuneralhome.com.  The Tracy Area Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.  

Barbara Bell Wildey was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 4, 1934 to Zona Bell Engberg.  She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis.  Barbara married Danny Wildey in Minneapolis.  She stayed at home to raise her children.  After they were grown, Barbara began working at Telex in Glencoe, and then at Young America Corporation and Tino’s in Young America before she retired.  Barbara moved to Tracy in March of 2010.  She enjoyed cooking, taking care of her family, dancing around the house, watching TV especially “Lucy” and spending time with her family and friends.

Barbara is survived by children: Mary Columbus of Tracy, Kay Clark of Faribault, Theresa (Joseph) Aguilar of Eagan, Robert Wildey of Tracy and Julie Rasmussen of Glencoe; grandchildren: Lori, Tony, Chuck, Steven, Raina, Angel, Fawn, Lance, Vanessa, Yolanda, Santino, Sheri, William Jr., Tiffany, Amber De, Zackary, Chance, Destiny, Kaden, Braden, Jessy, Cheyenne, Raven, Barb and Danny; 32 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Mary DeWitt, Albert Engberg, Dennis Engberg, Thomas Engberg, Kelly Engberg and Susie Konder; and many other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her mother; husband Danny; an infant son and children: Danny, Dennis, Dallas, Dale, and Patricia; and grandson Ricky.
