Harlan Rowland, 85
Harlan “Bud” Rowland was born
in Tracy, Minnesota on May 28, 1925 and passed away on November 14, 2010 at the
age of 85.
Bud joined the Navy in 1944
and married Dona Tweet in 1945.
He taught Business Education
at Catalina High School for 35 years. He had a tax business and
various other businesses while enjoying a very active life including boating,
flying, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife
Dona, two sons and daughters- in- law, along with seven grandchildren and eight
great grandchildren who will greatly miss him.
Marlo Schultz, 79
Funeral services were held
for Marlo Schultz, age 79, at St.
Peter’s Lutheran Church in Balaton, MN on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 10:30
a.m. with Rev. Mark Zander officiating. The organist was Lois Zander.
The pallbearers were grandsons, Jon Schultz, Mark Sanderson, and Eric Peterson
and nephews, Kim Hanson, Richard Geske and cousin, Willis Wendland.
Interment was at St. Peters’ Lutheran Cemetery, Balaton, MN.
Marlo Schultz was born on
April 26, 1931 in Tracy, Minnesota to Charles and Minnie Wendland Schultz.
He grew up on the family farm south of Balaton and attended country
school. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in
Balaton.
On September 23, 1950 Marlo
Schultz and Marjorie Hanson were married at Sillerud Lutheran Church in rural
Balaton. Following their marriage they farmed south of Balaton and raised
their six children. Marlo retired in 1994 but continued to help area
farmers in the spring and fall.
Marlo passed away on Sunday,
November 21, 2010 at his home in rural Balaton at the age of 79.
He was a lifelong member of
St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Balaton and served as elder. Marlo also
served on the Balaton School Board and the Balaton Elevator Board. Marlo
enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, woodworking, and collecting
scale model tractors.
Survivors include his wife,
Marjorie Schultz of Balaton, MN, six children and their spouses, Linda and Alan
Swan of Balaton, MN, Larry and Carolyn Schultz of Storm Lake, IA, Michelle and
Dallas Sanderson of Balaton, MN, Kathy and Mark Peterson of Tracy, MN, Becky
and Jeff Baack of Allen, TX, and David Schultz of Balaton, MN, 17
grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, JoAnn Schultz of
Balaton, MN.
He is preceded in death by his
parents, one brother, Gordon Schultz, and one sister, Irene Geske.
