Darold  Gullickson, 88

Funeral services for Darold “Buddy” Gullickson were held on Friday, April 8 at English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove.  Interment was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service - Walnut Grove Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. 

Darold “Buddy” Gullickson was born October 17, 1922 in Ann Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota to Henry and Alma (Larson) Gullickson.  He was baptized May 19, 1923 at his parents’ home, and confirmed November 21, 1937 at English Lutheran Church.  Buddy attended school in Walnut Grove.  He enlisted in the US Navy September 18, 1942 and saw active duty serving in the Pacific Theatre during WWII.  Buddy was honorably discharged on November 14, 1945. 

On May 12, 1948 he was united in marriage to Donna Bisgaard in Tracy, Minnesota.  Buddy farmed and worked for the city of Walnut Grove.  He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and later English Lutheran Church, and the Redwood Falls American Legion.  Buddy enjoyed a nice looking lawn and liked gardening.  He enjoyed mowing lawns for area elderly women in return for coffee and cookies.  Buddy also liked spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids.

Buddy is survived by his children: Chris Gullickson of Garvin, Clayton (Cheryl) Gullickson of Garvin, LeeAnn “Cookie” (Scott) Parker of Revere, Darla Gullickson of Winthrop, and Lesa Olson of Bullhead City, AZ; grandchildren: Shane Parker, Justin Parker, Abby Albertson, Corey Albertson, Ryan Gullickson, Cody Gullickson, Mandy Zimmerli, Miranda Adams, and Joey Zimmerli; great grandchildren: Austin, Riley, Millie, Brody, Lane and Amelia; and sister Norma Jean Slotsve of Lakeville. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, son-in-law Dwayne Olson, and siblings Richard, Leonard, Emerald, Clifford, Sterling, Ellsworth “Buster,” Lloyd, Mildred, Beatrice, and Ardys. 

 

D. Mike Maxwell, 70

D. Mike Maxwell age 70 of Tracy, formerly of St. John’s, MI, passed away Friday April 8, 2011 at Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall.  A Memorial Service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 11 at Lake Sarah Baptist Church (1613  191st Street, rural Slayton).  There will be a private family interment held at a later date.  Memorials to the Lake Sarah Baptist Church building fund are preferred in lieu of flowers.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service - Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

D. Mike Maxwell was born June 19, 1940 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Leon and Hazel (Mortensen) Austin.  He graduated from St. John’s High School in Michigan in 1958.  After his schooling, in June, Mike entered the US Navy serving with the Seabees until April 1961 when he received his honorable discharge. 

Following the service, Mike returned to DeWitt, MI where he was united in marriage to Sharon Parks on June 24, 1961 at DeWitt Community Church.  Together the couple resided in various locations before settling in Marshall, MN.  Mike was a member of Lake Sarah Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and was a part of the praise team.

Mike is survived by his wife Sharon of 49 years and 9 months; children: Steve (Chrystal) Maxwell of Batavia, IL, Kim (Tim) Peck of Mahomet, IL, and Corey (Kim) Maxwell of Stillwater, MN; eight grandchildren; sisters: Linda (Barney) Watts of Chesaning, MI and Karla (Jerry) Vietti of St. Charles, MI; and many other relatives and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents.
