Vivien Carroll, 87

Funeral services were held Friday, April 29, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Balaton for Vivien Carroll.  Interment was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Balaton.  The Almlie Funeral Home of Balaton handled the arrangements.

Vivien Mae Carroll was born on May 18, 1923 to William and Helen (Knudson) Johnson in Balaton, Minnesota, Lyon County.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.  She attended and graduated from Balaton High School in 1940. 

On November 15, 1941 Vivien married Robert Carroll in Balaton where they made their home until 1996.  After her husband’s death in 1996, Vivien moved to Tracy where she lived in an apartment and then to the Tracy Nursing Home until it closed.  She then moved to New London, MN where she lived at the Glen Oaks Assisted Living Home and Care Center.

Vivien was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Balaton for many years and then Tracy Lutheran Church until moving to New London.  She helped out in the church library and was involved in the ladies circle.  She also helped out at the Balaton Public Library and was a voting center volunteer at election time.  Vivien was a Homemaker who loved to read, go for walks, play bridge with her club, dancing in her younger years, and music, especially Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.  Her favorite times were with her children and grand children.

On Monday, April 25, 2011 Vivien died at the Glen Oaks Care Center in New London, MN, at the age of 87.

Vivien is survived by her one son, Gary (Sally) Carroll of Vancouver, WA; three daughters, Marlene (Harold) Halfmann of Tracy, MN, Diane (John) Woodhall of Spicer, MN, and Lori (Ken) Amundson of Sacramento, CA; nine grandchildren, Robert and Megan Carroll, Michael and Marc Turner, Adam, Erik, and Ryan Woodhall, and Michael and Ashley Amundson; five great-grandchildren, David, Grant, Jaclyn, Alexis, and Lincoln Turner; and two step-great-grandchildren, Jordan and Jackson Lounsberg; nieces, nephews, and friends.

Her husband Robert, parents, and one brother, Warren (Agnes) Johnson, one sister-in-law, Agnes (Merrill) Pederson preceded her in death.

Teresa Pacholl, 84

Teresa Bonita Pacholl, age 84, of Walnut Grove passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls while surrounded by her loving family.  Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Walnut Grove.   Interment was in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service - Walnut Grove Funeral Home  assisted the family with arrangements. 

Teresa Bonita Pacholl was born January 9, 1927 in Iona, Minnesota to Bernard and Anna (Fiedler) Moritz.  She graduated from Fulda High School in 1944. 

On October 3, 1951 Teresa was united in marriage to Merle Pacholl at St. Columba Catholic Church in Iona.  After the wedding the couple lived near Slayton until 1966 when they moved to Walnut Grove.  Teresa worked in the lunchroom at the Walnut Grove Public School for many years.  Everyone called her “mom”.  Teresa was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church where she was active in CCW.  Teresa enjoyed reading, word seeks and word puzzles, playing cards, and baking and cooking for her family.  Meatballs were her specialty.  The coffeepot was always on for her family and friends and her door was always open to everyone. 

Teresa is survived by her husband Merle of almost 60 years; children: Carolyn (Harvey) Larson of Slayton, Dale (Deb) Pacholl of Walnut Grove, Diane (James) Bue of Lakeville, Patricia (Rick) Slagel of Marshall, and Susan (Travis) Smith of Montevideo; grandchildren: Joseph Larson, Janelle (Dustin) Veldhuisen, Juli Larson, Jarrod Larson, Benjamin Pacholl, Brandon Pacholl, Charlie Gilb, Cynthia (Jon) Willhite, Heather Slagel, Tasha (Justin) Kling, and Krista (Jordan) Ellingson; great grandchildren: Sophie Larson, Madyson, Magdalynn, and Macey Sue Kling, and 2 more on the way; brother Dale (special friend Maxine) Moritz of New Roads, LA; and many other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers, and 1 sister.

 

Robert Pamp, 90

Robert A. Pamp, 90, Fargo, ND, died on Friday, April 29, 2011, in the Veteran’s Affairs Regional Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Bob was born on January 1, 1921, in Huron, SD, to Carl and Elsie (Williams) Pamp. He graduated from Huron High School and later attended college at the University of Minnesota.

Bob married Lois Evans on January 1, 1944, in Tracy, MN. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre of WWII from 1943 until 1946. Upon his discharge, he and Lois settled in Slayton, MN, where he worked in the parts department of Slayton Auto. During that time, he was actively involved with Golden Gloves Boxing as a coach and regional director for Golden Gloves in southwestern Minnesota for twenty years. Bob then went to work for the Minnesota AAA Motor Club and lived in Winthrop, Winona and then Bloomington, MN. He then bought the Farmers Insurance Agency based in Fargo, ND, with offices in eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota, which he operated until retiring at the age of 65. In retirement, he worked for Selland Motors for ten years. Major Pamp served as personnel officer for the North Dakota Wing Civil Air Patrol and also worked for the Fargo Park District at the Rose Creek Golf Course and Prairiewood Golf Course as a starter. Bob was a life-long Master Mason and past master of Murray Lodge #199 in Slayton and a member of Scottish Rite and Shrine. He was an avid fisherman and duck hunter. His wife, Lois, died on August 29, 2004.

Bob is survived by his brother, Bill (Dorthey) Pamp, Tracy, MN; sister, Kathy John, Chicago, IL; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, including nephew Doug (Melanie) Pamp, Garvin, MN.

Funeral: Monday, May 9, 2011, at 1:30 P.M., in Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.

Visitation: Sunday, May 8, 2011, from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead.

Interment: Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at 1:30 P.M., in Bethel Cemetery, Garvin, MN.

Ormon Wilson, 83

Ormon Lee Wilson, 83, of Hot Springs Village, AR died on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at his home. He was born on October 20, 1927 in Westbrook, Minnesota to the late Oren and Gladys Wilson.  He was of the protestant faith, a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, held a Masters Degree of Physics and was Assistant Professor of Physics at Central Connecticut State College. He was a farmer and bee keeper in Walnut Grove, Minnesota.

He is survived by his wife, Johanna Wilson of Hot Springs Village, three brothers, Mike Wilson of Mankato, Minnesota; Lee Wilson of Salt Lake City, Utah; Curtis Wilson of Hardin, Montana, and two sisters, Erma Olsen of California and Annabelle Smith of El Dorado, Kansas.

Memorial services will be Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. in the Hot Springs Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Susan Miller officiating.
