Elda Giese, 92

Elda B. Giese age 92 of Tracy, MN died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the Sanford-Tracy Area Medical Center.  Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2011 at Tracy Lutheran Church.  Interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery.  The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handled the arrangements.   Online condolences may be placed at www.almliefh.com

Elda Bernice Giese was born August 2, 1918 to Alfred and Bessie (Osmundson) Jensen on the family farm near Vesta, MN, Redwood County.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended country school. 

On June 5, 1938 Elda married Harold Giese on her parent’s farm and they made their home on Giese family farm.  They continued to live there until their retirement in October of 1964, when they moved into Tracy.  Elda worked for the Gullickson’s Neon Inn and also the Old Tracy Hospital as a cook, before working as a cook at the Red Rooster Café for 32 years. 

She was a member of Tracy Lutheran Church and over the years had been active in her Circle and other church women’s activities.  Elda also was a member of the Tracy Flower Club, Birthday Club, the Tracy Senior Center and various card clubs.  She enjoyed growing flowers, bowling, playing cards, cooking and baking, of which she will fondly be remembered for her Peanut Butter Pie recipe that was featured in Millie’s Favorites, a local cook book.

In January of 2002, Elda moved into the Twin Circle Apartments in Tracy and enjoyed her many years there. On Thursday, May 19, 2011 Elda died, surrounded by her loving family, at the Sanford-Tracy Area Medical Center at the age of 92.

Elda is survived by her three sons, Wayne (Dorie) Giese of Palmyra, WI, Dennis (Jo) Giese of Yankton, SD and Michael Giese of Tracy, MN; son-in-law, Jerry Jones of Minnetonka, MN; seven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Roxanne Jensen of Hutchinson, MN; nieces, nephews and friends.

Her husband, Harold, daughter, Muriel Jones, her parents, one brother, Derwin “Bud” Jensen, and three sisters, Neva (Clifford) Scott, Verna (Ray) Giese, and Betty Schueller preceded her in death.

The family requests that memorials be given to either: Tracy Lutheran Church or Tracy Senior Dining.

 

Keith Kinner, 56

Keith A. Kinner, age 56, of Elkton, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at his home near Lake Benton, Minnesota, of natural causes. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2011, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. Condolences may be sent to the family through www.eidsnessfuneralhome.com.

Keith A. Kinner was born February 18, 1955, at Lake Benton, Minnesota, to Kenneth and Doreen (Cyriacks) Kinner. He attended school in Lake Benton and graduated from high school in 1973. Following graduation, he joined the Air Force Security Service under the direction of the National Security Agency and moved to San Antonio, Texas.

On December 8, 1973, he married Debbie Johnson in Holland, Minnesota. Immediately thereafter, they moved to Italy where Keith served for two and a half years until returning to San Antonio, Texas, to finish his active service. Upon returning to Minnesota, he attended Southwest Minnesota State University where he earned his accounting degree. He worked as an accountant in Mankato, Minnesota, and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1979. He returned to the Lake Benton/Elkton area in 1981 and began his accounting practice, Kinner & Company, LTD. Over the years he expanded the business to eight offices in the area.

Keith lived a joyous life with no regrets. He loved God, his family, and his community. He was a member of multiple Kiwanis and Rotary clubs and various professional organizations.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Debbie; son Chris (Page) of Edina, Minnesota, daughter Nicki (Aaron) Holmen of Denver, Colorado, son Nathan (Lynae) of Bloomington, Minnesota, daughter Kelsey; two grandchildren, Adam and Marie; brother Lyle (Kim) of Elkton; sister Helen (Don) Drietz of Lake Benton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard and Vida Johnson, of Lake Benton and Pat Kocer of Pickstown, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doreen and Kenneth, and an infant sister, Elise.
