Betsy Bakker, 40
Betsy K. Bakker age 40 of
Marshall, MN died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the Avera-McKennan Hospital
in Sioux Falls, SD. Services were
held on Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Tracy Alliance Church in Tracy,
MN. Interment was in the
Tracy City Cemetery. The Almlie
Funeral Home of Tracy handled the arrangements.

Betsy Kathryn Bakker was born
November 20, 1971 in St. Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, NY. At the age of five, she was adopted
along with her twin sister, Abby, by Guys and Irene Bakker of Tracy, MN. She was baptized in the Chandler
Reformed Church in Chandler, MN and attended Tracy Public Schools.
When she was eighteen she
moved to Marshall, MN into an apartment. She later moved into the Parkview REM home. Over the years she worked at assembly and sorting at DAC in
Marshall. Betsy was a member of
the Tracy Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed puzzles, shopping, building things
with Lego’s, and eating out, especially when it was spaghetti, French fries and
ice cream. She also loved working
at DAC with her special staff member, Julie, whom she called “Goola” and time
spent with her caregivers, especially, Adam.
Betsy was a caring and giving
person, who will be remembered for that and her gift of sight, that she has
given through a gift of organ donorship to the South Dakota Lions Eye Bank
after her death.
On Wednesday, December 21,
2011 Betsy died, surrounded by her loving family, at the Avera-McKennan
Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 40.
Betsy is lovingly remembered
by her mother and step-father, Irene (Albert Dalle) Bakker of Tracy, MN; twin
sister, Abby B. Bakker and four other sisters, Stephanie, Holly, Cheri Lynn and
Suzanne Bakker, all of Tracy, MN; six brothers, Jerry Clark of Ivanhoe, MN,
Lonnie (Vicki) Clark of Chandler, MN, Mike (Dory) Clark of Tracy, MN, Danny
(Laurie) Clark of Ruthton, MN, Brian Bakker of Tracy, MN and Jeff Bakker of
Marshall, MN; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Her father, Guys Bakker,
infant sister, Mary Dell, both maternal and paternal grandparents, and uncle,
Archie Daniels preceded her in death.
Vincent Schreier, 86
Mass of Christian Burial was
held for Vincent Levi Schreier at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie, MN
on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Jeffrey Dobbs
officiating. The organist was Patty LeClaire. The song leader was
Linnea Surprenant. The pallbearers were his grandchildren. The
honorary pallbearers were his great-grandchildren. Interment was at
Calvary Cemetery Currie, MN. Military honors accorded by the Currie
American Legion Post.
Vince Schreier was born on
November 8, 1925 in Slayton, Minnesota to Joseph and Rosella Beach
Schreier. He grew up on the family farm near Currie, MN and attended
Immaculate Heart of Mary High School graduating in 1943. On March 9, 1945
Vince was drafted into the United States Army. Following his discharge on
December 3, 1946 he returned to the family farm.
On October 2, 1954 he and
Beverly Kremer were married at St. Columba Church in Iona, MN. Following
their marriage they farmed south of Currie and raised their nine
children. They retired in 1991 but remained on the farm. In June
2011 Vince became a resident of Garnette Gardens Memory Care Center in Redwood
Falls. Due to failing health Vince moved to Sunset Cottage in
Worthington and passed away there on Saturday, December 24, 2011 surrounded by
his family. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie
and served as trustee, lector, and usher. Vince also served on the
Calvary Cemetery Board and was a member of the Currie American Legion
Post. Vince enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards,
golfing, fishing, hunting, gardening, and playing penny slots.
Survivors include his wife,
Beverly Schreier of Currie, MN, nine children and their spouses, Joan and Leo
Olsem of Dundee, MN, Stephen and Diane Schreier of Tracy, MN, Joseph and Marcia
Schreier of Currie, MN, Philip and Jeanette Schreier of Currie, MN, Katherine
and David Lustfield of Balaton, MN, Carolyn and (Craig) Farrell of
Flandreau, SD, Dennis and Barb Schreier of Redwood Falls, MN, Marcia and Vonn
Zylstra of Spicer, MN, and Kristin and Rob Rohrer of Slayton, MN, 29
grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, eight brothers and sisters, John and
Barb Schreier of Slayton, MN, Duane and June Schreier of Currie, MN, Bernadine
Kremer of Iona, MN, Evelyn and Daniel Ackerman of Tracy, MN, Gerald and Lita
Scherier, Mary and Darrel Foster of Maple Grove, MN, Francis and Mary Schreier
of Emily, MN, and David and Alice Schreier of Currie, MN, and several nieces
and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his
parents, father and mother in-law, Barney and Caroline Kremer, one
brother-in-law, Ivan Kremer, five nephews, Paul Schreier, Michael, Greg, Paul
and John Kremer.
