Lucille Cleland, 96

Lucille E. Cleland, age 96, of Luverne, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne. She was born October 20, 1915, in Montevideo, to Tom and Hulda (Sherman) Coyle. She graduated from Montevideo High School where she met Reid Cleland.

Lucille married Reid on September 5, 1938. Their marriage lasted sixty five years until Reid died on January 22, 2003. During WWII, Lucille worked in Minneapolis while Reid served in the United States Army on the European front. The couple lived in Luverne for over fifty years. Reid was a banker at Rock County Bank, which later became Norwestern Bank. Lucille was a homemaker. Together they raised two sons, Mike & Jeff. Lucille became a resident of the Mary Jane Brown Home in 2010.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Luverne. She loved spending time at their lake home on Lake Shetek.

Lucille is survived by her son, Mike (Cathy) Cleland, St. Cloud; grandson, Andy Cleland, St. Cloud; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Cleland, Tracy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reid; son, Jeff Cleland, in 2010; and a sister, Bernice Coyle.

A private Burial service will take place at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne on Thursday, April 12, 2012.  Rev. Kritsi Franken officiated.
