Bernice Edwards, 92

Bernice Edwards, 92 of Tracy passed away Friday September 7, 2012 at Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy, MN.  Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 10 at Tracy Lutheran Church in Tracy.  Interment was in the Tracy Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent via www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Bernice Arleen (Schmidt) Edwards was born August 29, 1920 in Tracy, Minnesota to Emil and Bertha (Stahn) Schmidt.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  She attended country school and later graduated from Tracy High School in 1937. 

Bernice was united in marriage to Harold Edwards on May 1, 1939 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Tracy.  They made their home on the family farm west of Tracy, where they farmed until 1951. They then moved to a farm east of Tracy in Springdale Township, where they farmed until 1981 when they retired and moved into Tracy.    In the early 1970’s Bernice worked as a cook at the Christian Manor Nursing Home.  In 2008 Bernice moved to O’Brien Court and in 2010 moved to Prairie View Nursing Home.  Bernice was a member of Tracy Lutheran Church and Springdale Friendly Hour Club for many years.  She enjoyed flower gardening and belonged to the Tracy Garden Gate Flower Club.  She was a wonderful cook – you could always count on her for rosettes and pizzelles at Christmas time.

Bernice is survived by her children: Darold Edwards, Gordon (Marlys) Edwards and Bonnie (Larry) Buysse all of Tracy; Grandchildren Douglas Edwards, John Edwards, Brenda (Brad) Stoneberg, Michael (Jolynn) Edwards, Chad (Stacie) Buysse, Cory Buysse, Dawn (Dana) Kaldor; Great Grandchildren: Trenton, Tyler and Cassidy Edwards, Jenna and Sara Stoneberg, Samantha, Emma, Allison and Mesa Edwards, Alexis and Cayden Buysse, John, Myla and Lily Kaldor; brother Elgin Schmidt and sister-in-law Ethel DeBlieck. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, daughter-in-law Carlene, sister Aileen, and brothers Roland and Myron.

 

Arlene Frechette, 88

Arlene L. Frechette age 88 of Tracy, MN died Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30 AM Friday, September 14, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy.  Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until time of service, with a rosary at 10:00 AM.  A luncheon will be served immediately following the service.  Interment will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 15, 2012 in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm, MN.  The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.

Arlene Louise Frechette was born November 5, 1923 to August and Myrl (Sharett) Heil in Morris, MN.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and later in life, converted to Catholicism.  As a young girl her family moved to Westbrook, MN and she graduated from Westbrook High School.

On December 26, 1942 Arlene married Louis Frechette at the Catholic Church in Worthington, MN.  They made their home in Tracy and celebrated 67 years of marriage. After her husband’s death in 2009, Arlene remained in her home until 2010.  As a housewife, mother and grandmother, Arlene raised six children, but was also active in her community and church, which was a very large part of her life. 

Arlene was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy and active in the Catholic Church Women, taught Catechism and Confirmation for seventeen years, was a tutor, librarian and lunch time worker at St. Mary’s Catholic School, made flower arrangements for the alter and was a past member of Catholic Daughters and Extension Club.  Her faith was important to her and she attended Mass regularly and lived her faith.  She was an accomplished artist and poet, having won several contests with her poetry and copies of her painting of Christ, adorn not only St. Mary’s in Tracy, but also many homes, churches and other buildings in southwest Minnesota.  She also restored statues and paintings for area churches.  In her community she was active over the years as a food shelf volunteer, Campfire Girl leader, and the costumes she made for the Box Car Days Kiddie Parade won first place many times.  Besides painting she also enjoyed reading and was a member of several book clubs.

In April of 2010, Arlene became a resident of the Prairie View Healthcare center in Tracy, where she died, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, September 10, 2012 at the age of 88.

Arlene is survived by her four daughters, Colene (Lennard) Nydell of Tracy, MN, Dianne (Bill Grunz) Goings of Kasota, MN, Nancy Greenfield of Mankato, MN and Jill (Mark) Fischer of New Ulm, MN; two sons, Tim Frechette of New Ulm, MN and Guy (Teresa) Frechette of St. Paul, MN; twenty seven grandchildren; thirty four great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Kaufman of Tracy, MN and Phyllis Quillen of southern CA; three brothers, Delbert, Kenny and Roger Heil, all of southern CA; nieces, nephews and friends.

Her husband Louis, one son David, her parents, and two brothers, Mahlon and Harvey preceded her in death.  

 

 

Rosella Lanoue, 88

Rosella M. Lanoue age 88 of Tracy, MN died Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Prairie View Healthcare Center.  Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, September 6, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy. Interment was in the St. Dionysius Cemetery in Tyler, MN.  The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy   handled the arrangements.

Rosella Mae Lanoue was born May 16, 1924 to Ube and Martha (White) Lutterman in Sibley, IA.  Her family moved to a farm near Florence, MN where she grew up and she attended country school.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.

On October 5, 1943 Rosella married Raymond Dubbeldee at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler, MN.  They made their home on a farm near Arco, MN and later in Marshall, MN.  After Raymond death in 1973, Rosella remained in her home in Marshall.  On July 20, 1974 Rosella married Leonard Lanoue and they made their home in Tracy, MN.  Rosella will be remembered by her family as a wonderful housewife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was a past member of St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler and a current member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy, where she had been active in the Catholic Church Women.  She was also a member of more than one card club and the Hoe & Hope Garden Club of Tracy.  She enjoyed playing cards, flower gardening, dancing, traveling, trips to the casino, and cooking.  She also liked to collect recipes and will be remembered for her baking, especially her pies.  Her greatest love was her children, step-children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She made them all feel she lived her life for them, and the memories of love will never fade away.  Her strong will and hard working spirit carries on with her memory.

In January of 2012 Rosella became a resident of the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy, where she died, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the age of 88.

Rosella is survived by her husband, Leonard Lanoue of Tracy, MN; two sons, Leon Dubbeldee of Marshall, MN and Allen (Debs) Dubbeldee of South Haven, MN; four daughters, Sharon (Jerry) Schuck of Carlsbad, CA, Darlene (Wayne) Burgess- Ayers of Lago Vista, TX, Marlys (Dave) Hebert of Sacramento, CA and Mavis Fey of Edgerton, MN; three step daughters, Barb Voss of Alexandria, MN, Julie (Brian) Gibson of Prior Lake, MN, and Beth (Brian) Radi of East Grand Forks, MN; three step-sons, Dan (Elise) Lanoue and Greg (Karen) Lanoue both of Tracy, MN and Jeff (Lynette) Lanoue of Alexandria, MN; thirty six grandchildren; fifty great grandchildren; two brothers, Delmer (Marion) Lutterman and Alfred Lutterman; five sisters, Theresa Johnson, Rita (Budd) Medrud, Marion (Arden) Swan, Margret (Dennis) Kelly, and Armella (Gary) Deutz; four sisters-in-law, Betty Lutterman, Adeline Meulebroeck, Agnis (Gene) Thooft and Joan Lanoue; five brothers-in-law, George Laleman, George (Mary) Lanoue, Bob (Judy) Lanoue, Vince (Jeanette) Lanoue, and Ernie (Liz) Lanoue; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her first husband Raymond Dubbeldee, son-in-law, Mick Fey, three brothers, Eddie, Raymond and Willard Lutterman, two brothers-in-law, Ray Meulebroeck and Denny Lanoue, and five sisters-in-law, Annie Lutterman, Bernice Lutterman, Alice Laleman, Betty Lanoue, and Arlene McCoy preceded her in death.         

 

Darrel Mitchell, 82

Darrel G. Mitchell age 82 of Balaton, MN died Monday, September 3, 2012 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Balaton.  Services were held Friday, September 7, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Balaton.  Interment was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. The Almlie Funeral Home of Balaton handled the arrangements.

Darrel Gene Mitchell was born May 8, 1930 to Nels M. and Viola (Pehrson) Mitchell in Tyler, MN, Lincoln County.  He was baptized on July 10, 1930 and confirmed in February of 1945 at Sillerud Lutheran Church.  He grew up on a farm near Balaton, MN and attended country school, before attending Balaton High school, graduating in 1948.  He then farmed with his father for several years.

On June 29, 1951 Darrel married Ruth Munson in the Russell Presbyterian church.  They made their home with Darrel’s parents and farmed together until 1956, when they moved to a farm south of Balaton.  After four years, they settled on a farm southwest of Garvin, MN, and after his wife’s death in 2003, Darrel remained there until May of this year. 

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on the church board.  Darrel also served on the Garvin Elevator Board, was a member of the Drift Breakers snowmobile club and was a member of Red Power, an IH collector’s club.  He enjoyed collecting toy tractors and vintage International Harvestor Tractors, snowmobiling and card games. 

In May of 2012 Darrel became a resident of the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Balaton, where he died, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, September 3, 2012 at the age of 82.

Darrel is survived by his one daughter, Debra Mitchell of Plymouth, MN; one son, Dennis (Kathy) Mitchell of Garvin, MN; six grandchildren, Kristen Drucker, Kathryn Rasmusson, Heather Mitchell, Heath Mitchell, Chad Mitchell and Nicholas Mitchell; eleven great grandchildren; nieces, nephews , cousins and many friends.

His wife, Ruth, his parents, one son, Gerald, three daughters, Jane, Sandra and infant baby girl, one granddaughter, Ceona Mitchell, one brother, Robert, sister-in-law, Mavis Karbo, and brother-in-law, Irving Munson preceded him in death.

 

 

Merle Pihl, 83

Services for 83 year old Merle Pihl of Brooklyn Park were held August 8, 2012 at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN.

Merle was born July 12, 1939 to Frank and Lillie (Payne) Phil in Tracy.  Merle grew up on what was known as the Tracy farm south of Tracy.  He attended District 51 country school right across the road from his home.

Merle died Aug. 3, 2012.

He is survived by his wife Laurie of 54 years; one daughter Lynn of Mpls., MN; two sons, Steve of Kansas and Scott of California; one granddaughter, one grandson; three nieces; two nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Lucille and one brother Loren.
