Lawrence ‘Bud’ Schulte, 66

Lawrence “Bud” Edward Schulte, age 66, of Milroy, MN passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Wabasso.  Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy.  Burial was in the church cemetery. Lawrence “Bud” Edward Schulte was born on October 25, 1945 to Alvin and Doris (Blake) Schulte in Marshall, Minnesota.  Bud was baptized and confirmed at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall and attended and graduated from Marshall Public School.  Bud grew up and spent his entire life in the Milroy area.

On November 8, 1977, Bud married Janice Gieser in Marshall, Minnesota and they had three children, Bradley, Ryan and Nicole.  Years later, Bud met his special friend, Marlene Jones, and together they had a child, Mckenzie Jones.  Bud worked as an electrician for G & R electric in Tracy for 18 years and also for Northern States Elevator Construction Company for 18 years.  He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy.

Bud enjoyed hunting, watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, and especially spending time with his family and grandchildren.  Bud wanted his family to know that “I love them very much and my grandkids are the world to me and I fought like heck to the end.” 

Bud is survived by his four children, Bradley Schulte of Marshall, Ryan (Teresa) Schulte of Amiret, Nicole (Keith) Chapman of Carlos and McKenzie Jones of Ipswitch, SD; three sisters, Donna Lanoue of Tracy, Caroline “Kip” (Ed) Gerry of Madison, SD and Annie “Sissy” (Bill) Curwick of Marshall; three brothers, Donavon “Duck” Schulte of Townsend, MT, Myron “Bucky” (Rose) Schulte of Amiret and Brian (Pam) Schulte of Watertown, SD; four grandchildren, Piper and Paige Schulte, Evan Chapman and baby Jones on the way, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

His parents, brother-in-law, Dennis Lanoue, and nephews, Doug Schulte and Randy Lanoue preceded him in death.  Blessed be his memory.

 

Ida Van Gelderen, 95

Ida Mae Van Gelderen age 95 of Walnut Grove passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012 at her home.  Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday November 2, 2012 at the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at the church on Friday.  Private family burial is in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Ida Mae Van Gelderen was born April 11, 1917 in Sibley, Iowa to Jerry and Fannie (Voss) Janssen.  She graduated from Sibley Public School and in later years attended floral design school. 

On September 11, 1940 she was united in marriage to Jake Van Gelderen in Sibley, IA.  They farmed near Sibley until purchasing a farm south of Walnut Grove in 1951, where they continued to live until their retirement in 1988.  The couple then moved to their home in town where Ida has resided since.  Ida worked as a florist out of her own home.  Ida was a charter member of the Holly Friendship Flower Club, and was a very active member of her church.  She enjoyed craft shows, crocheting, gardening, painting, cooking, and fishing.

Ida is survived by her children: Jean (Bill) Johnson of Pine Top, AZ, Joyce Ewy, Jack (Vicki) Van Gelderen, and Gary (Sue) Van Gelderen, all of Walnut Grove; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jake on May 19, 2002, 5 brothers, and 3 sisters.
