Glenn Curtis, 99
Funeral services were held for
Glenn Curtis, of Slayton, MN at St. Ann’s Church in Slayton, MN on Friday,
March 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. James Seitz officiating. The readers
were Margaret Surprenant-Ostrowski and Theresa Surprenant-Barker. The
organist was Judy Andrews. The song leader was Sheila Crowley with
special music by Ruthanne LaQua.
The pallbearers are Gregory
Surprenant, Susan Bergstrom, Shannon Tate, Justin Vandeputte, Megan Erickson,
and Lucas Blesener.
Interment was at St. Ann’s
Cemetery Slayton, MN.
Glenn Curtis was born on
December 3, 1913 on a farm near Huron, South Dakota to Thomas and Florence Rand
Curtis. Glenn grew up on the family farm and attended school in Huron and
later attended Agricultural School in Brookings, SD. In 1931 the family moved to Murray County, MN.
On June 14, 1937 he and Mary
West were married at St. Ann’s Church in Slayton. Following their
marriage they farmed various properties around the Slayton area. During
this time, Glenn also worked various other jobs to include being a city police
officer. In 1958, he began working for Murray County Co-Op delivering
bulk fuel until his retirement in 1978.
On June 14, 2012 he and Mary
celebrated their 75th Wedding anniversary. Mary passed away on August 18,
2012. Glenn remained in their home until February 2013. Following a
sudden stroke Glenn spent the last two weeks at the Ambassador Good Samaritan
Center in New Hope, MN. Glenn passed away there on March 4, 2013 at the
age of 99.
He was a member of St. Ann’s
Church in Slayton. Glenn enjoyed road trips to visit family members,
watching old westerns and the Minnesota Twins, target shooting, playing 500,
and shooting pool. Glenn will be remembered for his love of family and
his ever-present sharp wit.
Survivors include his six
children and their spouses, Mary Jo Surprenant of Mankato, MN, Colleen and Bob
Reiter of Golden Valley, MN, Michael Curtis of Hampton, VA, Patricia and Mark
Donaldson of Knoxville, TN, Tom and Candy Curtis of Eden Valley, MN, and
Kathleen and Charlie Blesener of Elk River, MN, 19 grandchildren, and 31
great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his
parents, wife Mary, son Daniel, son-in-law, Kenneth Surprenant, two brothers,
Dale and Clyde Curtis and one sister, Claire Jurgens.

Allen Williams, 67
Allen James Williams, 67, of
Rixeyville, VA died Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Culpeper Regional Hospital,
Culpeper VA. He was born April 9,
1945 in Marshall, MN to the late Harold and Irene Loke Williams.
Allen served proudly in the US
Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and worked in communications for the US
government for 30 years. His true
passion in life was being a farmer and spending time with his family. He was greatly loved and will be dearly
missed.
He is survived by three
children: Sean Williams and his
wife, Nicole of Virginia Beach, Ryan Williams and his wife, Kelley of Virginia
Beach and Jeromy Cummins of Fairfax; three siblings, Marge Cadwell and her
husband, Merlyn of Clara City, MN, Arnie Williams of Marshall, MN and Dianne
Karlstad and her fiance Harold of Lynd, MN; four grandchildren, Jaden, Rhiley,
Adalyn and Billie Maxine Williams; and many other close friends and family.
A funeral service was held on
Friday, February 1, 2013 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kevin
Dawson officiating. Interment
