Edna Filkins, 85

 

Edna M. Filkins age 85 of Tracy, MN died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Hospice House in Marshall, MN.  Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy. Interment will be in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM.  The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.

Edna Mae Filkins was born November 6, 1927 to Paul Sr. and Amy (Rohmiller) Knoblauch on a farm near Iona, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended country school west of Tracy, MN, after her family moved to a farm southwest of Tracy, when she was a young girl.

On January 29, 1953 Edna married Richard Filkins and they made their home on a farm near Amiret, MN. After they retired from farming, they moved to a home east of Tracy in 1994. In 2012 Edna moved into the O’Brien Court Apartments in Tracy. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who kept the household running smoothly for her family.

Edna enjoyed spending time with her kids and their families. She was well known for her baking and cooking, and enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening.

On Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the age of 85, Edna died, surrounded by her loving family at the Prairie Hospice House of Marshall.

Edna is survived by one son, Dayle (Cindy) Filkins of Truman, MN; three daughters, Mary Ellen (Jo) Pyle of Tracy, MN, Luann (Jerry) Dirschel of Rochester, MN, and Karen Filkins of Tracy, MN; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; cousin, John Hagerty of Sacramento, CA; nieces, nephews and friends.

Her husband, Richard, and parents, Paul Sr. and Amy Knoblauch preceded her in death.

 

John Vickerman, 84

John A. Vickerman age 84 of Tracy, MN died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at his home near Tracy.  Services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Tracy United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, followed by a Masonic service.  The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery and a luncheon will be served in the church social hall, immediately following the burial.  The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.
