Bonnie (Van Avermaet) Irving, 68

Bonnie (Van Avermaet) Irving age 68 of Simi Valley, CA passed away on Sun., July 14, 2013. She is the daughter of Helen Sammons of Tracy and the stepdaughter of David Sammons of Tracy. A memorial service is planned for Friday evening at the New Heart Church, 4200 Township Ave., Simi Valley, CA 93063.

George Nyquist, 77

George Nyquist age 77 of Tracy, MN died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at his home in Tracy. Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Tracy Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. A luncheon will served immediately following the service and the interment will be in the Bethany Cemetery, near Vahalla on Lake Shetek, after the luncheon. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.

Norman Prechel, 83

Norman Prechel age 83 of Lucan passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.  Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16 at the Tracy Area Funeral Home.  Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home.  Burial is in Gales Township Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service - Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Norman Prechel was born August 21, 1929 in Bashaw Township, Brown County, MN to William and Edna (Stark) Prechel.  He was baptized and confirmed at Stately Church in Brown County.  Norman attended country school.  He served in the Air Force from November, 1949 to September, 1953. 

On June 3, 1956 Norman was united in marriage to Mary Larsen.  The couple farmed west of Redwood Falls until 1965 when they moved to Walnut Grove.  They lived on the Doc Inglis farm and took care of the livestock and crops until 1972, and then moved to Lucan in 2011.  Norman loved hunting, fishing, and trapping.  He enjoyed playing cards and video games.  Norman also enjoyed gardening, chopping wood, and trying his luck on lottery tickets.

Norman is survived by his wife Mary of Lucan; children Joyce Prechel and Tom (Lieah) Prechel, all of Lucan; step grandchildren Brandy (Aaron) Deterling of Morton and Whitney Lord-Heath of Redwood Falls; step great grandchildren Todd, Maverick, Griffin and August.  He is also survived by his siblings: Henry (Irene), Eugene (Marge) Betty Stockland, Alfred (Connie), Dennis, and Sandy Braillia; sisters-in-law Phyllis Junemann and Patty Prechel; and many nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Loretta, siblings Melvin, Alvin, Lorraine, and Robert.
