Roland "Rollie" Johnson, 94

Rollie Johnson age 94 of Tracy passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Prairie View Health Care Center in Tracy.  Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23 at the Tracy Church of Christ.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.  A private family interment will be held at a later date.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service - Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rollie was born December 15, 1918 on the family farm in Murray County to Harry and Effie (Anderson) Johnson.  He attended country school, and worked on the family farm until 1978 when he sold the farm and moved to Tracy.  On February 14, 1981, Rollie was united in marriage to Glenda Alberda in Tracy.  Rollie worked for several area farmers, and also mowed lawns and did snow removal.  Rollie was a member of the Tracy Lions Club, where he was presented the Lion of the Year Award, and the Melvin Jones Fellow Award.  He was an avid bowler, and roller skater.  He also enjoyed gardening, riding his bicycle, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Rollie is survived by his wife Glenda of 32 years; daughter Angela Alberda (Hugh Gower) of Mankato; son Chad Alberda (Erica) of Hamilton, MT; grandchildren: Ariel, Jayde, Bailey, Cade, Quinn, Kelsey, Angel & Isaac; great granddaughter Jane; sister Rose Wright of Albuquerque, NM; constant companion Gus; and many other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Eleanor Johnson and brother Donald Johnson.

 

June Pauling, 85

June Atlanta Pauling, age 85, of Lamberton, Minnesota died on November 18, 2013, at Seasons Hospice-Redwood Falls in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Services were held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Lamberton, MN, on Friday, November 22, 2013. Pastor Allen Brakke officiated.
Interment was at the Lamberton Cemetery, in Lamberton, Minnesota. Arrangements were handled by the Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton, Minnesota.

June Atlanta Pauling was born June 25, 1928 in Lake Sarah Township, Murray County, MN to Thomas and Agatha (DeMong) Holland. She graduated from Tracy High School in 1946 then worked at the Tracy Hospital as an LPN for 4 years. June was united in marriage to Vernon Pauling on June 29, 1950 in Garvin. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lamberton where she served as the funeral chairperson for several years, taught Sunday school, and was in Ladies Aid and a Circle.

She is survived by husband Vernon of Lamberton; children- Linda and husband Dean Schumacher of Lamberton, Duane Pauling of Wasilla, AK, David and wife Victoria Pauling of New Prague, and Dale and wife Maelynn Pauling of Wasilla, AK; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister Velma (Jerry) Vickerman of Fairmont.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Lavina; brothers- Howard and Thomas; and daughter-in-law Paula Pauling.

 

Bernard Van Moer, 79

Bernard John Van Moer age 79 of Tracy passed away on his farm Friday, Nov. 22, 2013.  Mass of Christian Burial was  held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov.  26 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy.  Burial was in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Bernard “Bernie” Van Moer was born July 21, 1934 in Tracy, MN to Joseph and Helen (Polaschek) Van Moer.  He graduated from Tracy High School in 1952.  Following high school he enlisted in the National Guard and then the United States Army, achieving the rank of sergeant.  Bernie reflected often on his time spent stationed in Germany.  He noted he was a lucky man to serve during peace time and was honorably discharged in 1957.  On June 17, 1959 he was united in marriage to Louise Prairie at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent.  Bernie and Louise began farming in the Milroy area eventually purchasing the family farm in rural Amiret from his father in 1970.  He was blessed to witness his final harvest this fall.  Bernie continued to be a man of service, serving many years on the Amiret Town Board, St. Mary’s School Board and Parish Council, and Knights of Columbus.  He took the most pride in service to family.  He and Louise had nine children, 16 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.  In addition to time with family Bernie enjoyed reading, checking the crops, following the markets, and his daily “drive around the block”.   

Bernie is survived by his loving wife Louise of 54 years; children: Mary (Ken) Schimnich, Joseph (Kathy), John (Theresa), Nancy (Tim) Cameron, Stephanie (Mike) Thomas, Kristen, Allison (Jamie) Stegeman, and Susan Vickerman; grandchildren: Craig (Maureen) and Amy Schimnich, Andrea (Josh) Schreier, Bernard “Ben” and Gavin Van Moer, Timothy (Mercy) Van Moer, Jacki (Troy Olson), Kristina Van Moer, Nathan and Sarah Cameron, Lydia and John Thomas, Seyla, Maesa, and Nora Stegeman, and Anna Vickerman; great-grandchildren: Ethan Schreier, Elijah Van Moer, and Kieran Schimnich; and siblings:  Mary Jo Christopherson,  Joseph “Buzz” Van Moer, Frances Forsman, Dorothy (Tom) Wilson, and Barbara (Marion) Welch. 

He is preceded in death by infant daughter Mary Louise, parents Joseph and Helen Van Moer, mother-in-law Louise Prairie; and in-laws: Rollie Moore, Robert Christopherson, Jay Forsman, Rose Van Moer, and Delores Wegele.
