Leland Sorbel, 70

Leland “Lee” O. Sorbel, 70, of Sparland, IL passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013 at his home.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Edelstein Congregation Church in Edelstein, IL. Ernie Russell officiated.

Lee was born on December 16, 1942 in Tracy, MN. His parents were Orie and Mildred (Rykhus) Sorbel. He married Phyllis Brehmer on August 30, 1964 at the Princeville United Methodist Church in Princeville.
Lee graduated from Sangamon State University in Springfield with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for over 38 years in Purchasing before retiring in 2002. He an avid collector of full size and miniature Caterpillar Machinery and toy models. He was a member and president of the Peoria Chapter of ACMOC (Antique Caterpillar Machinery owner’s Club) and past president of the International Chapter.

Lee enjoyed hunting and fishing, and a member of the NRA. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He became the family’s genealogist doing research about his family.

Surviving is his wife, Phyllis; two sons, Jeff (Kym) Sorbel of Wilmington, NC and Joel (Lisa) Sorbel of Princeville; five grandchildren, Ethan, Laura, Sydney, Grace and Jake; one brother, Dennis (Evelyn) Sorbel, Sr. of Maple Park; several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews to include, Brigitte (Bob) Belau and their children, Rachel and Katherine of Brookings, SD.
