Mary Mason, 85

Mary Margaret McCoy Mason passed away peacefully in Mission Viejo, CA on May 28, 2014 at the age of 85.

She is survived by her two daughters Kelly Mason of San Rafael and Christine McBride (Eric) of Rancho Santa Margarita. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Jessica Luiz, Reggie Luiz, Kaylin McBride and Sean McBride along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Mary was born May 1, 1929 in Tracy, MN. She graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary high school in Currie, MN in 1947. After attending business school in Mankato, MN she traveled with her girlfriends cross county to Long Beach, CA where she met and married Robert A. Mason on May 23, 1959. They were married for 33 years until Bob’s passing in 1992.

Mary was a long time resident of Garden Grove, CA and a dedicated volunteer to the Orange County Registrar of Voters. She worked for Bank of America, K-Mart and was a dedicated homemaker. A faithful Catholic, she was a member of St. Polycarp’s church in Stanton, CA.

Services were held at Forest Lawn in Cypress, CA on Thursday June 5th at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Orange County Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org/oc or Catholic Charities organization www.rcbo.org/.

 

Sandy Polzine, 66 

Sandy “Granny” Polzine age 66 of Tracy passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Our House Hospice of Murray County in Slayton.  Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 10 at Tracy Lutheran Church.     Burial was in Tracy Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service - Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sandra Rae (Stevens) Polzine was born September 12, 1947 in Marshall, Minnesota to Raymond and Avis (Anderson) Stevens.  She attended school in Tracy. 

On February 11, 1983 she married Donald Polzine at the Tracy Lutheran Church.  Sandy loved to travel; she and Don saw many sights and spent time in Branson, MO, every year.  She also loved spending time at the lake.  Sandy enjoyed dancing, playing pool, and collecting angels.  She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and often played Nintendo games with them.  Family time was always very precious to Sandy.  She was happiest when surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren.  They were all very important to her. 

Sandy is survived by her husband Don; children: LaRae (Kenny) Ackerman of Mankato, Michael (Stephanie) Persons of Shakopee, Kari (Dean) Beierman of Tracy, Hope (Russ) Edwards of Tracy, and Geri Erbes (fiancé Marc Mattson) of Balaton; step-daughters: Melissa (Kirk) Whiting of Bloomington and Madonna Peterson of Tracy; 15 grandchildren: Nate, Nick, Kendra, Mitch, Melanie, Matt, Andy, Lexi, Blaine, Lindsy, Alyssa, Bryce, Hailey, Allen, and Madi; 4 step-grandchildren: Ben, Brienna, Casey, and Jacob; and 4 great-grandchildren: Ashlyn, Hudson, Audrey, and Colin.  She is also survived by her brothers Roger (Jeanne) Stevens of Minneapolis and Douglas (Dona) Stevens of Barrett; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Sylvia “Sis” Peterson, and brothers Milo and Sonny Stevens. 

 

 

Kay Prouty, 74

Kay Barbara (Weeks) Prouty,  age 74,  of Redwood Falls died peacefully at Rice Memorial  Hospital in Willmar on Thursday, June 5, 2014 after a yearlong battle with cancer.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 11 at the First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls.  Visitation is 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 10 at the church and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.  Interment is in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service - Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Kay Barbara (Weeks) Prouty was born November 20, 1939 in New Ulm, Minnesota to Norval and Leila (Blanchard) Weeks.  She was baptized and confirmed at First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls.    Kay graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1957, and furthered her education at Mankato State where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  After college, Kay was personally hired as a Kindergarten teacher by Reede Gray himself.  

On December 22, 1962, Kay was united in marriage to Jim Prouty at the Presbyterian Church in Luverne, Minnesota.  Following their marriage, Kay and Jim moved to Sleepy Eye and then New Ulm, and Kay taught at both cities.  In 1968, Kay and Jim returned to Redwood Falls, and Kay took some time away from teaching to raise her family and care for her mother.  Kay returned to teaching in 1986 at the Morton Public School, and she later helped establish and also taught at Morton Charter School and Eci’ Nompa Woonspe’ Charter School.    After all of her teaching success and accomplishments, Kay retired in 2006.

She leaves to cherish her memory four sons: the Rev. Scott (Pamela) Prouty of Redwood Falls, David (Shari) Prouty of Lakeville, MN, Brent (Cathy) Prouty of Redwood Falls, and Nathan (Beth) Prouty of Apple Valley; nine grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Prouty, parents Norval and Leila Weeks, and a sister Shirley Fruechte.
