Elaine Jacobsen, 90

 

Elaine E. Jacobsen, age 90, of Tracy, MN passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014 at the Prairie View Senior Living  in Tracy.  Services were held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Tracy Lutheran Church in Tracy.  Burial was in the Tracy City Cemetery.  Online condolences may be placed at www.almliefh.com.  The Almlie – Horvath Funeral Home of Tracy is caring for the family.

Elaine Evelyn Jacobsen was born November 8, 1923 to Elmer and Eldora (Leaf) Peterson in Tracy, Minnesota. She was baptized at First Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Minnesota and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tracy.  She graduated from Tracy High School in 1941. On May 10, 1951 she was united in marriage to Harland (Jake) Jacobsen. They made their home in Tracy. After high school Elaine worked for Carlson Department Store and was then employed at the Tracy Headlight Herald for 30 years where she held various roles including bookkeeper and proofreader. She then worked for Region 8 Lyon County Home Health Care and also did private home care for the elderly. In her retirement Elaine also served as a greeter at the Marshall Walmart. Elaine passed away on Friday June 20, 2014 at Prairie View Senior Living in Tracy, MN, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 90.

Elaine was a member of Tracy Lutheran Church and participated in Ladies Aid over the years. She was a Cub Scout leader and also helped out with campfire girl activities. Elaine enjoyed sewing, scrapbooking, and was an avid reader. Above all, she adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was a devoted follower of their activities. She enjoyed creating scrapbooks commemorating their accomplishments.

Elaine will be lovingly remembered by her sister Marian Moen of Tracy, MN; children Charles (Elsie) Jacobsen of New Richland, MN; Gene (Lynette) Jacobsen of Tucson, AZ; Richard Jacobsen of Tracy, MN; Luann (Don) Hansen of Currie, MN; and Karen (Jerry) Ziemke of Garvin, MN; grandchildren James, Kent, Charles Jr., Michael, Katie, Paco, Peter, Chris, Andrew, Bradley, Cassie;  great-grandchildren Destiny, Cashe, Caleb, Elliana, Jack, Mackenzie, and Madison; and beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Harland, parents, brothers-in-law Milton Moen and Ivan Jacobsen, and sister-in-law Nola Jacobsen.

 

Mary Ann Lemieux, 76

Mary Ann (Sabinske) Lemieux, age 76 of Richfield passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2014.

Mary Ann was born in Tracy, MN on February 9, 1938 to William & Virginia Sabinske. She graduated from Tracy High School in 1956. Mary had worked at Sears, St. Regis Paper Co. and retired from Ziegler.

She is preceded in death by parents, former husband Basil Lemieux.

Mary is survived by son, Lonnie Lemieux of Newport News, VA; granddaughter, Megan Lemieux of Irving, TX; special friend, Stanley Lindrud; brothers, Donald, Jim (Janet), Joe; nieces and nephews.

Memorial service was held at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave., Edina, MN on Friday, June 13, 2014.

 

Robert Rasmussen, 85

Robert J. Rasmussen, age 85, of Walnut Grove, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Sanford-Sioux Valley Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.  Services were held on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove.     Burial was in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.  Online condolences may be placed at www.almliefh.com.  The Almlie – Horvath Funeral Home of Tracy is caring for the family.

Robert James Rasmussen was born on September 8, 1928 to Peter and Marvel (Grunig) Rasmussen in Jeffers, Minnesota.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended Jeffers Public School.  He grew up on the family farm near Sanborn, MN.

On March 8, 1952, Robert was united in marriage to Esther Menken at the Trinity American Lutheran Church in Jeffers.  They lived in Jeffers for a short time and then moved to a farm 8 1/2 miles north of Walnut Grove where they lived until moving to their current farm in 1984.  Robert farmed all his life and raising cattle was his pride and joy.  He always kept up with the current farming technology.

Robert enjoyed farming, his horses and buggy, fishing with his grandchildren at the gravel pits, and just spending time with his family and friends.

On Thursday, June 19, 2014, Robert passed away at the Sanford-Sioux Valley Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 85 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Esther of Walnut Grove; children, Dennis Rasmussen of Walnut Grove, Rose Marie (James) Schmiesing of Lucan, Cathy (Terry) Ochs of Springfield, and daughter-in-law, Vicky Rasmussen of Tracy; siblings, Marion (Neale) Sinclair of Indianola, IA, Harlan (Pat) Rasmussen of Sanborn, Glennis (Curt) Pearson of Rochester, Sharon (Tom) Yager of Minneapolis, brothers and sisters-in-law, Maxine Rasmussen, Barb Rasmussen, Viola Menken, Richard and Irene Menken, Elta Menken, John and Hilda Brand, and Donald and Anne Roefer; 18 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Paul James in 2000, brothers, Leroy, Daniel, Alan, and Marvin, sisters, Joy Kosel and Glee Meyer, and great-granddaughter, Chazinne Jo Rasmussen – Towne.
