Joseph Klein, 88

Memorial services were held Wednesday, July 23 at the United Methodist Church in Wyoming MN for Joseph Richard Klein, 88, of Chisago City MN.  He was born March 12, 1926 in Tracy to David M. and Florence (Briard) Klein, and died July 14,2014. He was interred at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis .

Richard (or Joe as he was known following military service) was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944 and suffered severe frostbite to his limbs while serving in Germany during WWII.

Following military service, Richard worked several jobs until returning to his roots in farming and took a job in the horticulture industry in the Twin Cities. He was married to Leona Weldon on March 17, 1947 and they raised two daughters.

He is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann (Donald) Krueger of Scandia MN, and Patricia (Alan) Kilian of Wyoming MN, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four brothers, Elmer Klein of Tracy, Melvin Klein of Tracy, Dale Klein of Tracy, and Lyle Klein of Ely MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Leona in 2006, a sister Margaret Peck and brother David Klein.
