Michael Giese, 59

Michael Giese age 59 of Tracy, MN died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the Sanford-Tracy Area Hospital.  A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Tracy Eagles Club.  Interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery at a later date.  The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.

Joan Goettig, 77

Joan Goettig age 77 of Marshall passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014 at her home.  Memorial services will be held at a later date.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service - Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Allen View, 87

A memorial service for Allen J. View will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea location.  The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Allen J. View was born on November 9, 1926 to Jesse and Anna (Olson) View in Milroy, MN.  He was raised on a farm and attended a one room country school through eighth grade.  Allen then graduated from Tracy High School in 1944.  Allen had a long and interesting career starting with 3 years in the Military Police Platoon, 1st Calvary Division, the Army of Occupation, Japan. After his honorable discharge he came back to operate the family farm for more than 14 years and later became a Schwan’s salesman for over 6 years.  Allen then served as a Police Officer for the city of Marshall, MN, followed by two years of service as the Assistant Chief of Police for the city of Hutchinson, MN.

Allen was an accomplished businessman. In July of 1972 he purchased two businesses in Albert Lea, the Kozy Rest Motel and the Mobile Bulk Plant. He later owned and operated two more mobile stations, Interstate on I90 and North Side Mobile. Al truly enjoyed working with the public. 

On September 8th, 1979, he was united in marriage to Linda Freeman at the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea.  Their journey continued in 1980 when the moved to Richfield, MN where they owned and operated another gas station.  In 1981 they relocated to Randall, MN where they managed the Conoco Truck Stop and Insbrook Motel.  They returned to Albert Lea in 1983 to continue to operate the Kozy Rest before moving to Wells in 1985. 

While residing in Wells Allen worked in security and hotel management and then later enjoyed his job delivering motor homes. He also worked at Swift Eckridge, Birdseye, and DelMonte. He fully retired in 1997 and the couple eventually relocated to Albert Lea in 2008. 

Allen died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 surrounded by family at St. John’s Lutheran Home.  He was 87 years old.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wesley View; sisters, Helen Gilmore, and Leona Kelly; brother in-laws, Robert Gilmore, William Kelly, and Lee Dano.

Those left to cherish Allen’s memory are his wife, Linda View, of Albert Lea; children, Francis Freeman, of Albert Lea, Ginger (Lonnie) Burkhow, of Kiester, MN, and Jessica View, of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Francis Jr. (Jin Har) Freeman, Christian Freeman, Megan (Jeff) Harp, Sadie Burkhow, and Candice Burkhow; great-grandchildren, Bryce Harp, Katy Harp, and Lola Burkhow; sister, Eunice Dano; sister in-law, Lois View; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
