Darlow Foster, 90

Darlow R. Foster, 90, of Walnut Grove passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015 at the St. John’s Lutheran Home in Springfield.  Services were held  at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the Almlie-Horvath Funeral Home in Tracy .  Burial was in the Johnsonville Cemetery, rural Walnut Grove.  Online condolences may be placed at www.almlie-horvath.com.  The Almlie-Horvath Funeral Service of Tracy is caring for the family.

Darlow Richard Foster was born on March 9, 1925 to Valley and Jesse (Johnson) Foster on the farm near Revere, Minnesota.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended Revere Country School. 

On March 4, 1947, Darlow was united in marriage to Amelia Williams at a parsonage in Walnut Grove.  They made their home on a farm near Walnut Grove where Darlow worked as a farmer and road maintenance worker for 33 years.  In 1976, Darlow and Amelia moved to a home in Walnut Grove. 

Darlow loved music, playing many different instruments was a passion of his.  What made Darlow’s day was being able to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Darlow also enjoyed fixing things; his grandchildren would have a box with broken things that they would bring to grandpa to fix.  He also had a taste for Mc Donald’s Big Macs and potato chips.

Darlow passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015 at the St. John’s Lutheran Home in Springfield with his daughters by his side at the age of 90.

Darlow is survived by his two daughters Shirley Sliker of Walnut Grove and Beverly (Duane) Weedman of Tracy; six grandchildren Dan Peterson, Rob (Kim) Peterson, Amber (Jason) Greeley, Heidi (Nick) Bitker, Dustin (fiancé Amanda) Weedman, Amanda Weedman, Shawn Lenberg, and Samantha Lenberg; 9 great grandchildren Holden Greeley, Chase Greeley, Hank Peterson, Meghan Bitker, Michael Peterson, Kinsley Bitker, Emersyn Bitker, Lydia Weedman, and Sage Greeley; extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Amelia, his parents, two brothers Vernon and Cecil Foster, two sisters Geneva Benedict and Lorraine Giersdorf, one grandson Jesse Sliker, and two sons-in-law Larry Peterson and Fred Sliker.

John Garrett, 86

A memorial service for John Garrett, 86, of Tracy, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2015, at Tracy Lutheran Church.  Military honors provided by U.S. American Legion Post 173 of Tracy.  Almlie-Horvath Funeral Service is handling arrangements.

John died on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the Prairie View Senior Living in Tracy.

 

Donna Mickelson, 80

Donna Mickelson age 80 of Walnut Grove passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Prairie View Senior Living in Tracy.  Funeral services are pending with Stephens Funeral Service - Walnut Grove Funeral Home. 

 

 

Patricia “Pat” Pattinson, 83

Funeral services for Patricia “Pat” Mary Pattinson will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie, MN on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Gregory Parrott officiating.  The organist is Patty LeClarie with special music by the IHM Choir.  The pallbearers are her grandchildren.  Interment is at Calvary Cemetery, Currie, MN. Pat Pattinson was born on January 27, 1932 on the family farm near Easton, Minnesota to John and Madeline Willette Schimek.  In 1941 the family moved to a farm near Currie, MN where Pat graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary High School in 1950. 

 On August 25, 1951 she and William “Bill” Pattinson were married at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.  Following their marriage they made their home in Currie and raised their four children.  Pat worked, as a postal clerk in Dovray and Currie but her main priority was her family. 

In October 2013 she and Bill moved to O’Brien Court in Tracy, MN.  Pat moved to the Prairie View Senior Living on Friday, July 17, 2015 and passed away there on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the age of 83. 

She was an active and involved member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie.  She also was a member of the CCW and the Catholic Daughters of America.  Pat was very spiritual and loved saying the rosary.  Pat enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, baking, sewing, and volunteering her help whenever it was need. 

Survivors include her husband, Bill Pattinson of Tracy, MN, three children and their spouses; Kathy and Tom Byrne of Currie, MN, Kris and Tim Rignell of La Crescent, MN, and Karen and Kim Erbes of Tracy, MN; seven grandchildren; Tom and Lezlie Byrne, Joe and Pam Byrne, Brandon and Liza Rignell, Preston Rignell, Jordan Rignell, Mackenzie Radel and Sam Lau and Madeline Caron, seven great-grandchildren; Britta, Jake, and Brody Byrne, Carly, Mason and Chase Byrne, and Preslee Lau; five siblings and their spouses; Jeraldyne Schmidt of Rochester, MN, Richard and Arlene Schimek of Rochester, MN, Charles and Donna Schimek of Marion, IA, Mary Weber of Appleton, WI, and Darrell and Irene Schimek of Kenosha, WI; and two half sisters; Charlotte Mair of Janesville, WI, and Joan Bohrn of Flagstaff, AZ. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, son, William “Bill” Pattinson, grandson, Matt Pattinson, infant brother, James Schimek, four brothers and their spouses, Francis and Elizabeth Schimek, Bob and Marcella Schimek, Claude and Dolly Schimek, and Lowell and Clementine Schimek.
