Ivan Carlson, 103

Ivan “Bud” Vincent Carlson age 103 of Westbrook passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center.  Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 28 at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook.    Burial was in the Westbrook Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service - Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. 

Ivan Vincent Carlson was born April 12, 1912 in Cherokee, Iowa to Conrad and Emma (Nelson) Carlson.  He was baptized August 19, 1928 and confirmed September 29, 1935 at Old Westbrook Lutheran Church.  Bud attended country school in Ann Township.  On May 23, 1941 he married Lorraine Kathryn Hubin at the Hubin farm south of Westbrook.  At a very young age, Bud was needed to help on the farm.  He continued farming until his retirement in 1975, when he and Lorraine moved into Westbrook. 

He was a lifetime member of Grace Lutheran Church and was involved in many community organizations.  Bud enjoyed golfing, going up north for deer hunting, and fishing.  He and Lorraine greatly enjoyed traveling and spending many winters in Texas with Westbrook friends.  Bud enjoyed socializing with friends and playing cards at the VFW. 

Bud became a resident at Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center in March 2015, where he passed away on Monday, August 24, 2015 at the age of 103 years, 4 months, and 12 days.

Bud is survived by his daughters: Judy (Roger) Storey of Faribault, Janice Carlson of Minneapolis, and JoAnn (Rolf) Hanson of Tracy; 5 grandchildren: Janelle Hart, Mark (Kim) Storey, Paul Hanson, Angela (Matthew) Knakmuhs, and Heather Hanson; 9 great-grandchildren: Calvin, Tori, Nate, Alyssa, Bella, Jazmyne, Mira, Noah, and Lauren; and sister Pearl Moen of Fargo, ND. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lorraine, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers. 

Allen Farber, 82

Allan Andrew Farber age 82 of Papillion NE, formerly of Walnut Grove, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the Huntington Park Care Center.  Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 4 at the English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove.  Visitation is 12:00 noon Friday until the time of services.  Burial is in Walnut Grove Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service - Walnut Grove Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
