Ethel DeBlieck, 96

 

Ethel Evelyn DeBlieck, 96, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Dec.10, 2015, at her home in Zumbrota.

Ethel Evelyn Edwards was born March 26, 1919, at home in Lyon County, Minn., to John and Elizabeth (Evans) Edwards. She grew up on the family farm there, where she attended country school. She then attended Tracy High School.

On July 3, 1935, Ethel was united in marriage to William (Bill) DeBlieck at The Church of Saint Mary in Tracy, Minn. Bill and Ethel were married for 65 years. They made their home on three different farms through the years.
Bill and Ethel raised their nine children in Tracy, until moving to Byron in 1967, then moving to Kasson in 1999.

During their years in Byron, Bill and Ethel were active members at The Church of Christ The King in Byron.
Ethel was a member of The Church of the Holy Family in Kasson, Minnesota, and was active in the quilting group there. Ethel was most recently a member of The Church of Saint Paul in Zumbrota; currently residing at The Bridges of Zumbrota.
Ethel enjoyed making quilts for her family members and Catholic mission groups, embroidering, crafts, fishing, and spending time with family; often gathering with them.

Ethel was also an avid bird-watcher and loved to cook

Ethel is survived by three sons, Dale (Judy) of Florence, CO; Duane (Brenda) of St. Peter, MN; and Don (Cindy) of Zumbrota, MN; two daughters, Julie (Tom) Duncan of Lenoir City, TN; and Brenda (David) Wright, Lenoir City, TN; son-in-law, Wendell Trei of Colorado Springs, Co; daughter-in-law, Mary DeBlieck of Tracy, MN; 27 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill); her parents, John and Elizabeth Edwards; three sons, Dennis, Dean and Marvin; her daughter, Eileen Trei; five brothers, William, Floyd, Mervin, Ervin, Harold; three sisters, Una, Viola and Jean; granddaughter, Dianne Lindberg; grandson, John Trei, and great-grandson, Jeremiah Trei

The Mass of Christian Burial for Ethel was held on Monday, Dec. 14, 2015 at The Church of The Holy Family, Kasson, MN, with Father Paul Surprenant officiating. Burial took place at Calvary Cemetery in Tracy

Jeffrey Ellingson, 50

Jeffrey S. Ellingson, 50, of Marshall, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Avera – McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD after a courageous battle with cancer.  Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Tracy Lutheran Church in Tracy.  Interment was in the Tracy City Cemetery.  Online condolences may be placed at www.almlie-horvath.com.  The Almlie-Horvath Funeral Service of Tracy is caring for the family.

Jeffrey Scott Ellingson was born on Sunday, August 15, 1965 to LeRoy and Joanne (Radke) Ellingson in Tracy, Minnesota.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Tracy Lutheran Church in Tracy, and attended and graduated from Tracy Area Public Schools in 1984.  After graduation, Jeff enlisted into the United States Army and was sent overseas to Germany for a few years before being honorably discharged and returning home to the Tracy and Amiret Communities. 

In 1991, Jeff was united in marriage to Nicole Vercruysse at Tracy Lutheran Church and to this union two daughters were born, Victoria and Sydnee.  They made their home in Wisconsin for a few years before returning to Minnesota and moving to Marshall.  Later in life, Jeff met Andrea Bertrand and together they had a son, Chase.  Jeff worked for Spee Dee Delivery Service for 22 years.  After 22 years with Spee Dee, he decided to do something different and went to work as a contractor for a few years before opening his own contracting business in Marshall called Contractor of Choice.  Jeff’s business and his family was his life.

Jeff enjoyed hunting, fishing, especially ice fishing, boating, snowmobiling, and riding motorcycles.  Jeff and his son Chaser did Tae Kwon Do together at Lee’s Tae Kwon Do in Marshall.  Most of all, Jeff loved to spend time with his children, brothers, and his family.

On Tuesday, December 15, 2015, Jeff passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of   50 years, 4 months, and 2 days.

He is survived by his three children, Victoria Ellingson of Kalamazoo, MI, Sydnee Ellingson of Brighton, MI, and Chaser Ellingson of Marshall; significant other, Becky Sik of Marshall; father, LeRoy Ellingson of Amiret, mother, Joanne Stevens of Garvin; three brothers, Mike Ellingson of San Antonio, TX, David (Kimberly) Ellingson of Charlotte, NC, and Lee (Angel) Ellingson of Tracy; grandmother, Kay Radke; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leland and Bernice Ellingson, and maternal grandfather, Harold Radke.
