Cody Bundy, 21

 

Funeral service for Cody Bundy, 21, of Balaton will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2015, at the Balaton United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Almlie-Horvath Funeral Home in Balaton.  Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church.  A private family interment will take place at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery in Balaton.

Cody Jay Bundy was born on December 11, 1993, in Windom, MN.  From the age of 5, Cody lived on a farm south of Balaton, Mn.  He attended school in Balaton and then in Tracy, graduating in May of 2012.  Cody loved the outdoors, animals and people.  Whether he was riding a horse or a four wheeler, driving a tractor or a combine, he did all of these things with a passion.  His calm demeanor and love of animals made it easy for him to work with them.  Many times he sorted, moved and loaded cattle all by himself.  His favorite horse, Dana, was blinded from a kick to her eye, but he still rode her as they learned together her limitations.  Animals who needed a home found their way to the farm.  Friends found their way there too.  Some just coming to hang out, some to live for a while.  His heart was big and he was always helping out the less fortunate or anyone who needed help.  He helped people with chores, farming, construction, snow removal, barn cleaning and moving.  Cody wasn’t afraid to help anyone who needed it, no matter the task.  His smile, twinkling blue eyes, sense of humor, and hugs will be greatly missed. 

Cody died on Saturday, February 28, 2015, on his property as the result of an automobile accident.  He is survived by his dad, David and mom, Peggy, sister Angel Francis Bundy, brother Doug (and Amy) nephews Zander DeGreef and Braxton Bundy, special friend Brianna Curry and her daughter, Letty, grandparents Virginia Yearous, Dean Bundy and Beverly Winther, many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

Lola V. Cooreman, 80

 

Lola V. Cooreman, age 80 of Tracy, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall.  Funeral Services were on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Tracy Lutheran Church in Tracy.  Visitation was at the Almlie – Horvath Funeral Home in Tracy with a prayer service at 7:00 pm.   Interment was in the Tracy City Cemetery. Lola Vernell (Peterson) Cooreman was born August 13, 1934 to Ole K. and Gelena Ragna (Kleven) Peterson in Currie, Minnesota. The family moved to the Sweetman Farm on Lake Shetek, and then lived on the Peterson Farm at Garvin Corner, Minnesota from 1944 to 1954.

Lola graduated from Tracy High School in 1952.  Lola had intentions of going to Beauty College, but her Mother was diagnosed with cancer which resulted in a leg amputation, and Lola was needed to help her mother on the farm.  Lola married Robert (Bob) James Cooreman on August 24, 1954, at Tracy Lutheran Church, Tracy, Minnesota.  They were married for 25 years and Lola was a hard-working, devoted farmer’s wife and mother to five children. While Robert and Lola were living on The O.C. Buckingham Farm near Walnut Grove and the farm site North of Tracy Lola had beautiful flower and vegetable gardens.  Her vegetable gardens were quite large and Lola canned and froze vegetables always for her family.  While her children were growing up Lola helped them with 4-H projects, every Saturday night was bath time for five children and Sunday School Lessons were then done after bath, and faithfully took her five children to Sunday Service and Sunday School. Lola became a self-taught seamstress and made many beautiful, unique outfits for Rhonda during her high school years.  Lola loved the sport of wrestling beginning with her sons Keith, Kevin, Kent, and Kendal all wrestling in high school, and continued to enjoy her grandsons Chad, Cole, and Erik’s wrestling careers. Grandma made trips to Willmar for dance and sporting events of Grandson Christopher and Grand-daughter Caitlin.  Many car trips were made to Grand-daughter Carly’s dance recitals and competitions with Grand-daughter Chelsea as her travel companion and conversation partner.  And Grandma enjoyed her shopping trips with Grand-daughter Chantalle and visits from Grandson Preston.  The love of Lola’s life and focus was always her children and grand-children and she traveled to all of their various special events as long as she was able.

Lola worked as an evening waitress at The Mediterraneon Club in Tracy, Minnesota, and also was the Director of The Tracy Senior Dining from May of 1988 until January of 2007, when Lola retired.  Lola was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and a life-time member of Tracy Lutheran Church, and in her later years listened to church service on the radio every Sunday.  Lola loved to dance at weddings and in her youth at various youth ballrooms and danced until her health did not allow and would make sure to watch Old Time Polka every week.

Lola lived in her home in Tracy until November of 2014 when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung cancer and metastasized bone cancer.  Lola underwent surgery to stabilize her leg from the bone cancer on December 23, 2014, and entered Prairie Home Hospice and Community Care on January 7, 2015.  Lola passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Prairie Home Hospice and Community Care in Marshall, Minnesota, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 80 years, 6 months, 15 days. 

Lola is survived by her children, Keith (and Sue) Cooreman, Rhonda Cooreman Bosacker, Kent Cooreman, Kendal (and Pamela) Cooreman; Grandchildren Christopher and Caitlin Cooreman, Carly and Preston Bosacker, Chelsea, Chad, and Erik Cooreman, Cole and Chantalle Cooreman, Great-Grandchildren Courtney, Kaysen Harms (Step-Grandchild) and Drake Cooreman, Brother Vernon Peterson, Wendell, Minnesota, and many, many family and friends.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents, Ole K. and Gelena Peterson, ex-husband Robert James Cooreman, son Kevin James Cooreman, Sisters Blanche Ehleringer and Gladys Kasa, Brothers Omer, Harvey, Maynard, Dennis, Victor Peterson.  Deceased infant sisters Hildur and Darlene.

Duane M. Peterson, 89

 

Duane M. “Pete” Peterson, age 89 of Tracy, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Sanford Tracy Medical Center in Tracy.  Funeral Services were held Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Tracy Lutheran Church in Tracy.  Visitation was at the Almlie – Horvath Funeral Home in Tracy.  Burial was in the Modum Cemetery, rural Garvin.  Online condolences may be placed at www.almliefh.com.  The Almlie – Horvath Funeral Service of Tracy is caring for the family.

Duane M. “Pete” Peterson was born August 26, 1925 in Tracy, Minnesota to Marvin S. Peterson and Ida (Stageberg) Peterson.  He grew up in Garvin, Minnesota and graduated from Tracy High School in 1943.  After high school, Duane attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota graduating in 1947.  While at St. Olaf Duane was a member of the famed “St. Olaf Choir” (1943 – 1947) singing under the direction of F. Meleus Christiansen while touring the United States.  Duane married Marjorie Manke on July 23, 1947 in Tracy, Minnesota.  The love of his life and traveling partner for 67 years and 7 months.  They traveled the World extensively.  Duane was a business man owning his Insurance Agency, Real Estate Business and a Tax Practitioner Business in Garvin and Tracy, beginning in 1947 until selling completely in 2002.   Duane still went down to the office and worked with Real Estate until December of 2014.  Duane was a board member of Norwegian Mutual Insurance Company in Cottonwood, Minnesota for 54 years, being President for 34 years.

Duane was very active in the church and community being a board member at Shetek Lutheran Ministries for 15 years (1956 – 1971) while being treasurer for 10 years and Sunday School Superintendent at Lake Sarah Lutheran for 21 years and the Garvin Business Mens Club for 46 years.   Duane was also a church council member numerous times.  Duane was a member of Tracy Lutheran Church, Tracy Country Club, Garvin Fire Department, Tracy Chamber of Commerce and other various civic clubs.

Duane peacefully passed away on February 28, 2015 with his family at his side at the Sanford Tracy Medical Center in Tracy, Minnesota at the age of 89 years old.

Duane is survived by his wife Marj of Tracy; Daughter Kristin (Jim) Kaiser of Richfield and grandchildren Chris (Lisbet) Kaiser, Marjie (Joffrey) Sarphati, Andy Kaiser and Amanda Kaiser; Son Mark (Kathy) Peterson of Lake Shetek and grandchildren Heidi (Justin) Deragisch and Eric Peterson; Son Ivar (Diane) Peterson of Coon Rapids; Several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Duane was preceded in death by his parents, brother Irv Peterson, father-in-law and mother-in-law Bill and Bertha Manke, brothers-in-law Bill Otto and Bob Manke.
