Eileen Jorde, 98

Eileen Mildred (Aarestad) Jorde, 98, of Tracy, MN, formerly of Northwood, ND, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the Sanford Medical Center in Tracy.  Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Northwood Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northwood, North Dakota.  Interment was in the South Cemetery, rural Northwood, North Dakota.  Arrangements by:  Almlie-Horvath Funeral Home, Tracy, MN, and Bilden Funeral Home, Northwood, ND.

Eileen Mildred (Aarestad) Jorde was born on Wednesday, May 2, 1917 to Ingvald and Ida (Berg) Aarestad in Cooperstown, North Dakota.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, attended Cooperstown Elementary School, and graduated from Binford High School on May 31, 1935.  In her younger years, Eileen lived in Binford, ND, Cooperstown, ND, Everett, WA, and Pasadena, CA.

On December 4, 1946, Eileen was united in marriage to Olaf G. Jorde in Flom, Minnesota.  They made their home in Ulen, MN for a few years and then moved to Northwood, North Dakota where Eileen was a housewife and mother.  She was a member of Northwood Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northwood, ND and was involved with Ladies Aid, quilting, and Bible study. 

Eileen enjoyed gardening, embroidery, and spending time with her family.

On Wednesday, April 13, 2016, Eileen passed away at the Sanford Medical Center in Tracy at the age of 98 years, 11 months, and 11 days.

She is survived by her children, Glen I. Jorde of Devils Lake, ND, Myrna (and Phil) McDougald of Panama City, FL, and Elton O. (and Keren) Jorde of Tracy, MN; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Carol Stromme; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Olaf G. Jorde, parents, and 3 sisters.

 

Reta Medrud, 88

Mass of Christian Burial for Reta Medrud, 88, of Marshall, formerly of Milroy and Balaton, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Almlie-Horvath Funeral Home in Tracy.  Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Dionysius Catholic Church.  Interment will follow the service at St. Dionysius Catholic Cemetery in Tyler.

Reta Marjorie (Lutterman) Medrud was born on January 22, 1928, in Sibley, IA, to Ube and Martha (White) Lutterman.  When she was ten, she moved with her family to a farm near Tyler, MN.  Reta graduated from Balaton High School.  She obtained her Teaching Certificate from Normal School in Montevideo, MN. 

On June 10, 1948, she was united in marriage to Neil “Budd” Medrud.  The couple farmed and raised their family near Balaton.  Family was Reta’s passion and her life.  She also was an avid reader and enjoyed dancing. Reta will be remembered for her kindness and her quick wit. 

In 2000, the couple retired from farming and moved to Milroy.  In 2013, they moved to Heritage Point in Marshall.

Reta died on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. 

She is survived by her husband, Budd, of Marshall, children Leonard Medrud (and Arthur Jordan) of Redwood Falls, Robin Medrud of Cottage Grove, Wayne Medrud of Yelm, WA, Janelle Peterson of North Bend, WA, grandchildren Mark Rowe, Jonathan Thul, Melita Thul, Eric (and Anabel) Fitzmedrud, Nicole Medrud, Noah Medrud, Andrea Peterson, great-grandchildren Sophia, Freya and Emmanuel Fitzmedrud, siblings Alfred Lutterman of White Bear Lake, Marian (and Arden) Swan of Tracy and Armella (and Gary) Deutz of Marshall, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Edward, Raymond, Delmar, Margaret, Theresa, Willard and Rosella.

Herbert Ruppert, 89

Funeral services for Herbert Ruppert will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Currie, MN at 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 21, 2016 with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting celebrating.  The organist is Patty LeClaire. The song leader is Dave LeClaire. The pallbearers are Terry Carlson, Kevin Carlson, Karl Ruppert, Gary Ruppert, Chuck Peltola and Allan Peltola. Interment at Calvary Cemetery Currie, MN. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 20 from 4 to 6 PM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Currie with a 4 PM prayer service and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Herbert John Ruppert, the son of Valentine and Katherine (Potthoff) Ruppert, was born on May 18, 1926 on a farm south of Currie, MN. He grew up on the farm and attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School in Currie, graduating in 1944. He then farmed with his father and brother Ray on the family farm. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Germany as a MP.

Herbert was united in marriage to Pat Knowles in 1952 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy. After their marriage they lived and farmed east of Currie, where they raised their six children. Herb and Pat were divorced in 1968 and he continued farming until his retirement in 1989. Herb continued helping his son Scott on the farm while his health allowed.

He lived in Currie until moving to assisted living in September of 2013. Herbert passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield, MN at the age of 89.

He was a member of IHM Catholic Church in Currie and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Currie American Legion. He enjoyed farming, fishing, bowling, playing cards, pool and golf and spending time with his family. Herb was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, who was always there when anyone needed him. He had a great sense of humor and a warm heart.

Survivors include his 5 children, Mike (JoAnn) Ruppert of Currie, MN, J. Scott (Kim) Ruppert of Currie, MN, Laurie (Duane) Maeyaert of Lake Shetek (Tracy), MN, Jennifer (John) Ritzman of Cannon Falls, MN and Betsy (Dan) Ruppert-Kan of Robbinsdale, MN; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Kristen Ruppert, 4 brothers, Harold, Ray, Louis and Orville Ruppert and 5 sisters, Lillian Busch, Julia Peltola, Irma Carlson, Leota Silver and Marce Cummiskey.
