Paul Bangasser, 72

 

Paul Joseph Bangasser, age 72 of Hopkins passed away peacefully at home on August 22, 2016. Preceded in death by parents, Lloyd and Elaine; brother, Hugh. Survived by wife of 47 years, Susan; sons, Brian and Mike; granddaughter, Alexa Elizabeth; brother, David (Stephanie); sisters, Joan and Laney; many nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and friends.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. on Thursday Sept. 1, 2016 St. Gabriel the Archangel- St. Joseph Campus, 1300 Mainstreet in Hopkins, with a visitation one hour prior. Private family interment.

Special thank you to the hospice care at Methodist Hospital. Paul was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

 

Theodore Berglund, 95

 

Theodore A. (Teddy) Berglund, 95 of  Bancroft, IA (formerly of Slayton, MN) quietly passed to his eternal reward at Kossuth Regional Medical Center in Algona, IA on Saturday, July 2, 2016.  He was surrounded by the love of his family and friends. 

Theodore Alfred Berglund was born at rural Wilmont, MN the 1st of 6 children to August Berglund and Bertha Peterson on September 7, 1920.  He attended country school & graduated from 8th grade, continued helping on the family farm until he was drafted into the Army on September 4, 1942.  Ted served in 2192nd Quartermaster Trucking Co. Aviation as a truck driver hauling bombs and airplane motors in the Ardennes and Rhineland campaigns, doing painting trucks and office duties as well.  He earned several citations for outstanding performance (above and beyond the call of duty). He married the love of his life, Vesta Marie Carney on August 30, 1952.  He returned to the Iona/Slayton area where he farmed until 1989.  He joyfully served as livestock and grounds keeper at Sunshine Bible Academy where Vesta taught.

They settled in Bancroft, IA in 1993.  During his retirement years he sawed and split wood to heat their home and proudly tended his yard and houseplants while watching the birds and squirrels and occasional trips to see kids and grandkids.

Left to cherish his memory are:  his wife, Vesta of Bancroft, IA; children: Lloyd (Shirley) of Baltic, SD; Christine Haack (Jim Gabrielson) of Roseville,MN; Elizabeth Summer (Bill Linscott) of Vesta,MN (formerly of Tracy,MN); Louise (Tim) Meyer of Heron Lake, MN; and Deryl Berglund of Bancroft, MN; 12 grandchildren, 20 greats; siblings: Aletha DeYonge of Staples, MN; Bernard Berglund of Slayton; Alvina Kadus of Pillager,MN; and LeeRoy Berglund of Slayton.

Preceded in death by his mother and father, mother and father-in-law, grandparents, two brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, great grandson Hunter Stuckey and brother Albert Berglund (Feb. 23, 2016).

Celebration service to be held on Sunday, Sept. 4 at 9 am at Algona Faith Assembly of God in Algona, IA.   Family and friends will proceed to Chandler, MN for a short service at Chandler Community Center at 4 pm with inerment at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery on the east hill by Chandler, MN.

Alice Campbell, 83

 

Alice Joan Campbell, 83, of Tracy, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her family.  Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2016 at Tracy Lutheran Church in Tracy.  Interment was in the Willow Lake Cemetery.  Online Condolences may be placed at www.almlie-horvath.com.  The Almlie-Horvath Funeral Home in Tracy is caring for the family.

Alice Joan Campbell was born on Sunday, November 27, 1932 in Taylors Falls, Minnesota to Thomas and Lettie (Booth) Hill.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith and attended Taylors Falls High School. 

On July 18, 1971, Alice was united in marriage to Clayton Campbell at Willow Lake Lutheran Church.  They made their home on a farm south of Tracy where Alice was a mother and farmwife.  She was an active member of Tracy Lutheran Church and a member of the Do Day Ladies quilters.  She enjoyed flower gardening, making family photo albums, bird watching, blue grass festivals, camping, bowling, playing cards, traveling, attending her grandchildren’s events, and most of all spending time with her family and friends.

On Tuesday, August 23, 2016, Alice passed away at her residence surrounded by her family at the age of 83 years, 8 months, and 27 days.

Grateful for having shared in her life is her husband Clayton Campbell of Tracy; children, Suzanne (Keith) Kruger of Harpers Ferry, WV, Allen (Linda) Rydin of Walnut Grove, Debbie (Hans-Ruedi) Tobler of Makakilo City, HI, Julie (Bob) Lenertz of Alexandria, Marc (Mary) Campbell of Brookings, SD, Eric Campbell of Canby, Angie (Jon) Briggs of Canby, and Sara (Tony) Vanden Bosch of Dundee; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, and 5 sisters.

Linda Julien, 66

 

The funeral service for Linda Julien, 66, of Garvin, was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at Tracy Lutheran Church in Tracy.  Interment will follow the service at the Hoiland Cemetery in Garvin.

Linda Sue (Webber) Julien was born on February 22, 1950, in Sioux City, IA, to Leo and Hazel (Bennett) Webber.  She attended grade school at Spirit Lake and graduated from Arnold’s Park, IA.  Linda was united in marriage to Tom Rhodes and to this union were born sons Timothy and Anthony.  They lived in a variety of places as Tom was in the military.  The marriage later ended in divorce and Linda moved to Balaton.  On September 16, 1978, she was united in marriage to Jim Julien.  To this union were born Nathan and Ashley.  The family made their home in Garvin.  Linda worked at a variety of jobs including many years managing the Deluxe Motel in Marshall.  She enjoyed photography, crocheting, quilting, tatting and fishing.  She was most passionate about her family, especially her grandchildren.

Linda died on Saturday, August 27, 2016, under hospice care at her residence in Garvin after a lengthy battle with heart disease. 

She is survived by her husband, Jim, of Garvin, children Timothy James (and Shannon) Rhodes of Slayton, Anthony Dale (and Linda) Rhodes of Wood Lake, Nathan James (and Brian) Julien of Bloomington, IN, and Ashley Marie-Julien (and David) Freeburg of Garvin, grandchildren Tracy, Austin, Greg, Makayla, Piper, Ryker and Maura, her father Dean Bundy, siblings Pearl Somers of Appleton, MN, Roger (and Martha) Terry of The Colony, TX, Larry (and Linda) Webber of Spirit Lake, IA, Lola Webber-Bundy of Cottonwood, MN, David (and Peggy) Bundy of Balaton, MN, Jan (and Pat) Bundy of Sioux Falls, SD, in-laws Connie and Mel Lien of Garvin, honorary brother Jim (and Joan) Mitchell of Garvin, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her mother Hazel Bundy and biological father Leo Webber, in-laws Fern and Orval Julien and Stanley “Red” Somers.

Nicholas Rolling, 68

 

Nicholas W. Rolling, age 68, passed away peacefully in his sleep Aug 17, 2016. Nick was born to Don and Ann Rolling in Baltimore MD on May 14, 1948. He was a graduate of Tracy High School in Tracy, MN and Evergreen State College in Seattle Washington. Nick served in the United States Army Infantry. He was wounded Feb 29, 1968 in a military engagement in Vietnam. Nick was awarded the Purple Heart along with other

Nick married Betty, the love of his life, on September 11, 1971.  He is survived by Betty, brothers Ron, David, Steve and Bob. He is also survived by sisters’ in-law, Kathy, Dorothy, Sandi, Pat and brother in-law Bill.

Nick sacrificed a lot for his country, family and friends. He will be truly missed by many.
