Betty Abernethy, 88

 

Betty Jean Abernethy, age 88 of Burnsville, formerly of Tracy, MN passed away September 18, 2016. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville.   Interment was held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Betty was preceded in death by parents, Glenn and Minnie (nee West) Johnson; siblings, JoAnn Momsen, Ilona Klemsich, and Gerald Johnson.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, W. David Abernethy; children, Nancy (David) Hippe and David Abernethy; grandchildren, Noah and Kiyrie Abernethy; brother, Richard Johnson.

Memorials preferred to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville, MN or Tracy Lutheran Church Building fund, Tracy, MN.

Dorothy Cote, 96

 

Dorothy Fae Cote, 96, of Staples, MN passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples, MN. Services for Dorothy will be 11:00AM, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Staples Congregational Church with Pastor Tony Romaine officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples, MN.

Dorothy was born July 4, 1920 in Tracy, MN to Ben and Eva (Case) Hullopeter. She was united in marriage to Hector (Bud) Cote on September 18, 1944 in Tracy, MN.  Dorothy was a member of the Congregational Church in Staples since January of 1953. She was very active in her church.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Darrel (Carrie Lyn) Cote of Brooklyn Park, MN; two granddaughters, Carrie Anne (Jamin) Wood of Princeton, MN; Heather Dee Cote of Sun City, AZ; one great grandson, Jaeger Wood of Princeton, MN; four sisters, Marjorie  Imker of Lamberton, MN, Darlene Thaxton of Los Altos, CA, Pyllis Swedenburg of Glenwood, MN, Joanne Vandeputte of Marshall, MN; brother, Gerald (Betty) Hullopeter of New Richland, MN; sister in law, Loretta Hullopeter of Hendricks, MN; and lots of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hector on March 4, 1976; one sister, Mildred Miller; brother, Donald; four brothers in laws; and her special friend, Myrle Kupitz. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Staples Congregational Church.
