Martha Dunteman, 86

 

Martha Madsen Dunteman, 86, of Balaton, MN passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Colonial Manor in Balaton.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Balaton.  Interment was in the Arco Cemetery in Arco, Minnesota.  The Life Remembrance Center of Balaton is caring for the family.

Martha Madsen Dunteman was born on December 30, 1929 to Lane and Gertrude (Brouwer) DeVries in Rock Valley, Iowa.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended school in Rock Valley.  Later in life, Martha continued her education and received her GED.

In 1946, Martha was united in marriage to Richard “Bud” Mulder in Rock Valley, Iowa and to this union four children were born; Joe, Myra, Randy and Starlyn.  In 1974, Martha was married to Norman Madsen at The Little Brown Church in Iowa and they made their home in Arco.  Norman passed away in 1992.  On February 6, 1999, Martha married Loren Dunteman at Trinity Lutheran Church in Balaton.  They lived on a farm near Balaton for a few years before moving to a home in town.  Martha worked for Western Community Action in Marshall as a case manager and most recently as a direct care worker for REM of Tyler.  She was also on the EDA Board for Lincoln County and involved with bible study and the Ladies Auxiliary.  She enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls, playing bingo, going to the casino and being Mr. and Mrs. Claus.  She loved spending time with her family and going to her grandchildren’s activities.

On Tuesday, November 15, 2016, Martha passed away at the Colonial Manor in Balaton at the age of 86.

She is survived by her husband Loren Dunteman of Balaton; four children Joe (Nancy) Mulder of Lake Benton, Myra (Denny) Kronke of Marshall, Randy (Linda) Mulder of Parkston, SD and Starlyn (Mary) Mulder of Marshall; three step children Lori Beaird of Sioux Falls, SD, Michael (Dayna) Dunteman of CA and David (Jane) Dunteman of Hartford, SD; grandchildren Richard and Courtney Mulder, Travis (Samantha) Moon, Jana Moon, Tony (Jackie) Mulder, Wendy (Mark) Reischl, Chad (Rachel) Mulder, Troy Mulder, Amy (Tanner) Auch, Stacy (Eric) Kemerling and Katelyn (Jordan) Krueger; eighteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; seven step grandchildren and one step great grandchild; one brother Bill (Nella) DeVries of Elkton, SD; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands Richard and Norman, one brother Rich, and three sisters Ann, Jennie and Nancy.

Mary Munson, 54

Services for Mary S. Munson, 54, of Tracy will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Victory Christian Church in Balaton. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at the Tracy Area Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church Tuesday. Stephens Funeral Service - Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mary S. Munson was born on June 30, 1962 in Tracy, MN to Albert ‘Al’ and Susan (Smith) Zender. She attended elementary school at St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Tracy High School in 1980.

She then attended Willmar Area Vocational School and became a licensed cosmetologist.

In 1983 she was wed to Matt Macken. To this union, two daughters, Catie and Sara, were born.

On October 16, 1993 she was united in marriage to Jim Munson.

On Oct. 1, 1996, Mary entered into a partnership at the Morgan Street Salon in Tracy, which she operated for a number of years.

She then went on to manage the clubhouse at the Tracy Country Club for a few years.

Most recently she was an employee of Applebee’s in Marshall.

Mary spent her summers on many area golf courses enjoying the game with her husband, family and friends. She achieved many championship golf titles and tournament wins.

She enjoyed knitting, annual trips to Las Vegas and area casinos. Mary also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed spending time with her “little peanuts” Ava, 7 ½ and  Amiyah, 5.

Mary passed away on Wed., Nov. 16, 2016 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls after a courageous battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband, Jim, of 23 years; daughters Catie of Boston, MA; and Sara of Marshall; beloved granddaughters Ava and Amiyah of Marshall; step children Mandy, Ashley, Justin and Brandy; mother, Susan Zender of New Prague, MN; mother-in-law Donna Munson of Walnut Grove; brothers John (Julie) of Apple Valley, MN; Mike (Pam) of Inver Grove Heights, MN; sister Margaret (Neil) Butchart of San  Antonio, TX; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Mary in death are her father, Albert ‘Al’ Zender; father-in-law, Virgil ‘Hap’ Munson; maternal and paternal grandparents.

 

 

Sylvia Popp, 98

 

Sylvia Popp, age 98 of Tracy, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 at Prairie View Senior Living in Tracy. 

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 29 at the Tracy Area Funeral Home.  Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial is in the Tracy Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com
