Roger Helleson, 68

Roger D. Helleson, age 68. from Colgate, WI died early Wed. morning Dec. 21, 2016 from complications of pancreatic cancer.

He was born July 17, 1948 in SW Minnesota. Roger was born in Tracy, MN to Kenneth and Margaret Almhjeld Helleson and grew up in Garvin. He attended elementary school in Garvin and graduated Tracy High School in 1966.  After serving in VietNam, he lived in Lakeville, MN.  He and his family moved to Lonsdale, MN, North Carolina, New York, and finally to Wisconsin where he has lived for many years.

He married Laurie Hackett on Feb. 28, 1978. He worked for Wrico Stampings for 29 years and retired in May of 2015.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie, his three children, Brad (Kim), Justine (Steve Parbs) and BJ (Beth), his two grandsons, Sam & Zach and a baby on the way, all in the Milwaukee area. He is also survived by his three brothers, Dick (Sheila) of Tracy, MN, Dale (Sandy), Farmington, MN and Duane (Deb) Helleson of Faribault, MN, other relatives and friends. He is very loved by all of those that he has left behind. There are no words for how much he will be missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Fri. Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, N89 W16297 Cleveland Ave., Menomonee Falls. Visitation will be at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass. A special thanks to all the friends and family for the love, support and prayers as Roger battled cancer the last 9 months.

 

Robert Kolar, 79

 

Robert “Hub” Kolar, age 79 of Walnut Grove, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Prairie View Senior Living in Tracy surrounded by his family.  Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 23 at English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove.  Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service - Walnut Grove Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Robert James Kolar was born July 8, 1937 in Tracy, Minnesota to Charles and Myrtle (Shellum) Kolar.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  Hub attended country school in rural Walnut Grove and later Walnut Grove High School.  Hub became a welder in 1953 at the age of 16 and worked for 60 years at Lads Manufacturing. 

On January 29, 1957 he married Geneva Nissel in Milroy.  The couple was blessed with nine children.  Hub did a lot of fabrication and donated a lot of time to the Laura Ingalls Wilder pageant.  He was a member of the Walnut Grove Fire Department for 21 years and served as Assistant Chief for several years.  Hub enjoyed Rolle Bolle, golf, trap shooting, ice fishing, and snowmobiling.  He loved decorating the house for Christmas.

Hub is survived by his wife Geneva of 60 years; children: Ron (Cindy) of Sioux Falls, SD, Rocky (Karen) of Westbrook, Bob of Sioux City, IA, Twyla Kronschnabel of Montrose, MN, Cindy Kolar of Humboldt, SD, Jon (Patty) of Tracy, Mary (Blaine) Corlett of Harrisburg, SD, Lynae (Greg) Scotting of Montrose, SD, and Gene (Missy) of Sergeant Bluff, IA;  grandchildren: Brady and Austin Kolar, Shaun Kolar, Crystal Knakmuhs, Chandra Carlson, Samantha Palmer, Al, Rob, and John Kolar, Trevor, Dustin, and Nick Lickteig, Jayce, Jared, and Jesse Corlett,  Tarra Berent, Brandon Kronschnabel, Christina Plautz, Heather Snyder, Kortney Kolar, Tony and Derrick Kolar, Tate, Mathew, Hope, and Riley Scotting, Abby and Andy Kolar; 25 great grandchildren; siblings: Albert “Butch” Kolar of Clare, IA and Judy (Jerry) Grothe of Zumbrota; his dog Oliver; and many other relatives and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, great grandson Breckon Berent, and daughter-in-law Jodi Kolar.

 

Florence Nuese, 99

 

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Florence Frances (Cooper) Nuese, 99, a resident of Marshall, will be held Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 503 West Lyon Street, Marshall, Minnesota.  Burial will be at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Marshall.  The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 with a CCW rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at Rehkamp Horvath Funeral Home, 411 West Lyon Street, Marshall, Minnesota. 

Mrs. Nuese passed away December 21, 2016 at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall, Minnesota.

Florence Nuese was born on May 10, 1917, on a farm in Walnut Grove, Minnesota, to Alta (Doble) Cooper and George Cooper.  She grew up on a farm with her four younger siblings, where hard work was the expectation and reward.  Florence attended Tracy High School, graduating in 1937.  She earned a teaching degree from St. Cloud State Teachers College in 1942.

Florence married Lourdes Nuese on December 28, 1943, at Holy Redeemer Church in Marshall.  She completed her teaching contract with the public elementary school in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and joined Lourdes, who was stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton, OK.  After Lourdes’ discharge from military service, they returned to Marshall, Minnesota. Florence was a homemaker and an active member of The Church of Holy Redeemer, and officer of the Catholic Daughters of America.

After her four children were grown, Florence returned to teaching, as a Title I teacher at West Side Elementary School in Marshall.  After her retirement from teaching, she was energetic and an eager volunteer at The Church of Holy Redeemer, Prairie Home Hospice and Avera Marshall Auxiliary Thrift Store.  She also served as an active member of officer of the Auxiliary until recently. 

Florence enjoyed her time of service to the Marshall community.  In her retirement from her many years as homemaker, mother, and teacher, she enjoyed the company of many friends at Hill Street Place.  She particularly enjoyed playing cards and bingo, and being involved in the varied activities of her new home.

Florence’s husband, Lourdes, preceded her in death on August 12, 2011.  They were married for more than 67 happy years.

She is survived by her children and spouses: David and Patsy Nuese, of Marshall, Kathy (Nuese) and Hank Moore, of Doylestown, PA; Dennis and Peggy Nuese, of Marshall; and Duane Nuese, of Marshall; 10 loving grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; her brother, Harold Cooper, of Tracy; and her sister-in-law, Joyce Cooper, of Tracy.

The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Hill Street Place, who made Florence welcome and a happy resident for more than five years, to the staff of Morningside Heights Care Center, who did everything in their power to make Florence comfortable during her final illness.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall.

 

Dale Pemble, 94

Dale Pemble, age 94, of Walnut Grove passed away on December 23, 2016 at Prairie View Senior Living in Tracy. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Walnut Grove Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the services. Dale Pemble was born in Morton, Minnesota on February 14, 1922 to Isaac and Anna (Smith) Pemble. When he was young, Dale lived with his parents in the Renville area. Dale married Dena Groen on August 1, 1944 and shortly after moved their family to the Walnut Grove area where his parents had previously farmed. Dale made his living by driving truck for many farmers around Walnut Grove for many years. In his free time, Dale enjoyed playing bingo and playing cards.

Dale is survived by his children: Diane (James) Shaw of Dovray, Lester (Carla) Pemble of Walnut Grove, Carol (Stephen) Schneider of Renville, Joann Timmers of Chaska, Teresa (Leo) Cashmarek; son-in-law John Doubler; 20 grandchildren: Robert, Denise, Melissa, Brian, Susan, Thomas, Timothy, Kim, Kurtis, Lisa, William, Keith, Samantha, Jaclyn, Chad, Brooke, Shaun, Casie, Christopher, and Jamie; and 31 great grandchildren.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents, wife Dena, daughters Donna Rathje and Janice Doubler, granddaughter Nichole Rathje, great-grandson Landon Caranta, sister Opal May Anderson, brother Glenn Pemble, infant brother Clair Pemble, and sons-in-law Brad Munson, Doug Rathje, and Bill Timmers.

 

Louise Marie Stransky, 84

 

Mrs. William (Louise Engesser) Stransky was born in Garvin, Lyon County in southwest Minnesota on April 10, 1932 and attended school in Tracy. Louise passed away suddenly on December 23, 2016 and joined her best friend, her husband William, in eternal life.

Louise’s father died in a farm accident at the age of 37, leaving his wife to raise five children.  Louise was 11 at the time.   Louise attended beauty school in Mankato at the age of 15, at that time the youngest beautician in Minnesota.  Her first job was in Northfield at the Co-Ed Beauty shop, which she later purchased.

Louise worked at the Minnesota School for the Deaf for 20 years before retiring in 1995.  She loved each and every one of those children like her own.

Louise married William Stransky at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Northfield on January 24, 1952.  The couple had five children:  Ann Hallet (Tim), Julie Stransky, William Stransky (Brenda), Jane Bloomquist (Jim) and Lisa Quimby (Steve).  The couple was blessed with 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Louise was preceded in death by her loving husband William, her mother, her father and two brothers, Neil and Lyle Engesser.

Louise is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her sisters Mariam Calkins (John) and Janice Glenn (Craig), her sister-in-law Ellie Engesser (Lyle), as well as many relatives – all greatly loved and cherished by Louise.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Shieldsville.  Interment will be at the St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Shieldsville.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault and also at the church for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
