Box Car Wind is at it again
Even if you’re not a fan of massive wind towers that protrude from the ground, seemingly piercing the clouds above, you have to concede that Box Car Wind has been a tangible boon to our area. The renewable energy operation was at it again earlier this week when it made an $8,500 donation to the Borchert Endowment Fund, which was created to enhance parks in Balaton.
This group gives to our cities though donations and students through scholarships and should be commended for its philanthropic deeds. Box Car Wind is a friend of southwest Minnesota, and we’re lucky to have them.
Wind towers have proven to be a controversial issue, and there are many who don’t care to see towers going up in our rural areas, but shouldn’t this be considered a win-win for all of us?
We understand and appreciate the feelings of those who don’t want our landscape cluttered with towers, but we need to see the forest for the towers on this one. We need to focus on the bigger picture and what Box Car Wind has done to support small towns like Tracy and Balaton.
The push for renewable energy is not going away; it might even get stronger in the coming years, so we need to accept it. And we need to count our blessings in that Box Car Wind has embedded itself into our communities and has worked for and with us and not against us.
Box Car Wind, and its mission, are good things for southwest Minnesota. We should be thanking them.
