A good portion of the City of Tracy, including a number of businesses, were without power Friday afternoon, the result of a branch that was being cut down falling on power lines in the Greenwood area.
“Someone pulled some branches down on the power lines and took power out on a line that feeds a good portion of Tracy, as well as Currie and Garvin,” City of Tracy Public Works Director Shane Daniels said. “It blew a fuse in the sub-station. It took out power at the pool, water plant and several business in town.”
According to the website Find Energy, there was a peak outage count of 570 — 13.55% of 4,208 tracked meters — Friday.
Businesses that are connected to the sub-station downtown such as Food Pride were not affected, but others in the highway area such as Midwest Supply, The Caboose, Auto Value and C&B Operations were. Areas as far away as Currie were also affected.
