SOAKER: AREA TAKES ON WATER OVER THE WEEKEND

Tracy, surrounding towns received anywhere from 5-8 inches of rain over the weekend, as the ‘summer of rain’ continued

Area sump pumps, culverts and industrial pumps were put to the test this past weekend after more than 4 inches of rain fell Sunday morning. It was the largest single-storm rainfall in Tracy since the summer of 2018 (thankfully, it didn’t get THAT bad last weekend).

The Tracy Fire Department was paged at 2:39 a.m. Sunday to assist with flooding issues, and it was about that time that industrial pumps were put into place to move water.

THE FIELD GOAL POST on the south end of the high school football field was on an island Sunday after the heavy rains. Thankfully, the water was mostly gone by Tuesday, and the field should be ready for Saturday’s Pigskin Classic Scrimmage. BELOW: The bridge on No. 9 at the Tracy County Club comes in handy when crossing the stream under normal circumstances, but it was no match for the rushing waters this past weekend when the banks of the creek were taken over. The course closed Sunday and reopened Wednesday.
