Mischke is top girls’ runner; follows that up with Top 10 finish at Canby

The TMB/ WWG boys’ cross country team finished sixth overall out of 13 teams at last Thursday’s Panther Invite, which paired the girls with the boys in an effort to beat impending weather.

Jaxter Pfarr was the top Panther runner, taking 23rd with a PR time of 20:14.16, with Weston Marten not far behind at 20:18.10, also a PR. Taylor Squires was 30th at 20:33.80 (PR); Jackson Jenniges finished in 39th place at 21:13.96; Logan Petersen was 61st at 23:16.87; and Owen Beier was 66th at 23:40.90.

Other finishers for the boys’ team were Owen Maguire (69th at 24:11.75), Noah Schmidt (70th at 24:11.78), Tyson Peterson (71st at 25:15.65) and Adam Hippe (79th at 34:24.48).

“I was very impressed with our boys team,” TMB coach Billy Dean said. “It is a hard course with a lot of tough hills, and it was a very windy and cold day. I thought our runners toughed it out and ran a very good meet.”

For the Panther girls, junior Miranda Mischke started what would be a huge week by leading the way with a time of 22:36.50 for 14th place. Then on Tuesday, Mischke grabbed the seventh-place spot with a run of 23:03.50 in Canby.

XC Evelyn Rentschler competed in her first varsity race this year last Thursday and ran a 28:05.94.

“Zach Jones (20:16.59), Xander Brinkley (23:46.52), Cohen Radke (38:21.05), Jaeda Nelson (29:48.08), and Payton Daniels

(31:17.66) all ran in the JV race, which is 4K,” Dean said. “They all ran either a new personal record or a season record. I’m very proud of them.”

Sam Wiborg, Gatlin Struchen, Trajan Swanjord, Lainey Jackels and Stella Munson ran in the JH race. Wiborg took ninth in the boys’ race with a time of 8:03.54; and Jackels was second in the girls’ race with a time of 8:22.55. Struchen ran a 8:38.22 which is a PR in a 2K; Swanjord set a new PR for himself this year

(12:03.01) and Stella Munson ran at 10:40.65 in her first race.

Also on Tuesday in Canby, Rentschler was 28th at 28:50.15. Nelson was 35th at 42:24.98.

For the varsity boys, Pfarr continued his strong start to the season with a 12th-place finish (20:48.35) Following closely behind were Squires (14th at 20:55.71) and Marten (15th at

20:55.82). Jenniges was 19th with a time of 21:24.04; Beier took

32nd place with a PR run of 22:38.80; Peterson was 46th at

25:52.89; Schmidt was 48th at 26:19.76; Jones was 49th with a time of 26:19.76; Hippe was 55th, and Brinkley finished 56th.

For the junior high Panthers, Jackels just missed a first-place finish, running the 2,000 meters in 8:37.23, less than 22 seconds off the pace. Munson was 18th at 11:34.91 and Daniels was 21st at 13:50.25.

The boys’ junior high team was paced by Wiborg (10th at

8:28.28). In 17th place was Struchen at 8:57.56; Swanjord was

21st at 12:53.19 and Radke 22nd at 17:04.77.
