Council updated on municipal projects, including community center

Tracy City Council members on Monday received an update on municipal projects — sort of.

They received a physical copy of six different projects and were asked to look over updates on the tasks leading up to an in-person presentation by a Bollig Engineering representative in October.

“This gives you an idea of all the projects going on here in town,” Tracy City Administrator Jeff Carpenter said. “We need to know what’s going on here and hold them to the fire a little bit … we are watching it to make sure everything is getting done and we get everything that has been promised to us, because we have given them a tremendous amount of money.” Bollig’s summary includes infrastructure funding efforts ($420,000 contract amount, in progress); the Safe Routes to School project ($67,000, on hold); Phase E infrastructure improvements ($1,650,000, in progress); community center renovations ($92,000 in progress); and improvements to the SCADA system ($111,000, in progress).

To date, the City has been invoiced a total of more than $1.6 million for these initiatives.

For the community center, design development of the drawing set and coordination with mechanical and electrical building systems consultants are in progress. An intense period of design, drafting, and coordination will occur over the next several weeks before it is ready for another owner review. Bollig staff investigated the interior of the building after a recent heavy rain events to see if there was evidence of roof leaking, but there were none.

Bollig’s invoiced design fee to date is 81% so there are still some pieces to complete before the project manual and drawings are ready to submit to the agencies. Bollig completed a walk-through of the Phase E project with the City on Aug. 28.

The SCADA task order was signed on June 23 to finalize the modified design to maximize the Wastewater Resiliency Grant, incorporate scope improvements and prepare the project for competitively public bidding.

In other news from Monday … • The council set a public hearing for 6 p.m. on Sept. 22 for a franchise agreement for the next 25 years for natural gas service in town.

• The count accepted the following donations for the annual Labor Day Fly-In/ Drive-In Breakfast at the airport: $1,500 from Premium Plant Services; $500 from High Water Ethanol; $500 from Fultz Farms; $500 from Mark Wilkison; $500 from Bollig Engineering; $250 from Minnwest Bank; $250 from Midwest Supply; $200 from Dale Johnson III Construction; and $150 from Tracy Builders Supply.

• The council approved an extension of an airport farm lease agreement for three years for 113.47 acres with Greg and Scott Lanoue, as the current lease expires at the end of 2025.
