Patricia “Patty” Minett, age 89, of Russell, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Prairie View Senior Living in Tracy, Minnesota. Memorial Services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Balaton United Methodist Church. Following a reception for attendees, interment will be in the Russell Cemetery. Visitation will be held just prior to her celebration, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 12, also at the church in Balaton, Minnesota.
Patricia Ann Winders was born on July 11, 1936, in Russell, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Myles and Elsie (Greve) Winders. Patty grew up in Russell where she was baptized in the Christian faith on March 17, 1953, and was later confirmed at the Russell Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Russell High School in 1954 and then moved to Minneapolis where she worked for the next 10 years at the Prudential Insurance Company.
On May 11, 1957, Patty was united in marriage to Marvin Minett in St. Paul, Minnesota. They were married by the same pastor and in the same church where her parents were married in December of 1925! The couple moved back to Marshall area in 1971 when Marv began working in the Minett family well-drilling business. They built their home and settled in Russell. Patty was a homemaker and mother for many years before going to work at Schwan’s ice cream plant in 1991. She retired in May of 1999.
Patty was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church in Russell and had an extensive collection of anything related to owls. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, bird watching, tracing her family genealogy, watching TV, and above all spending time with her family.
Patricia Minett died on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in Tracy, Minnesota with family by her side. She reached the age of 89 years, 1 month, and 15 days. Blessed be her memory.
She is survived by her 3 children, Craig (and Sheila) Minett of Tracy, Lisa Towne of Tracy, Steven (and Jennie) Minett of Balaton; 8 grandchildren, Emily (and Cody) Nelson, Cody Minett, Michaela (and Jeremy) Miller-Schreier, Eric (and Caitlyn) Minett, Trent Minett, Paige Minett, Merci Minett, Connor Towne; 5 great-grandchildren, Jaeda, Hadli, Skylar, Creed, Hayes; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Myles & Elsie Winders; husband, Marvin Minett (who died on March 6, 1986), and sister, Arlene (and Bob) Sorensen.
