Sept. 29, 1955 — Marvin Rialson, Tracy, was elected president of the Lyon County Farmers Union convention in Russell. Re-elected were Henry Arndt, Russell, vice-president; and James Edwards, Amiret, secretarytreasurer.

Sept. 30, 1965 — Bruce Kirkpatrick, Tracy druggist, assumed the chairmanship of the Lyon County Republican party organization Monday evening at a meeting of officers held in Marshall. He has been chairman for three years.

Sept. 25, 1975 — Michael R. Jensen, 23, of Detroit Lakes, assumed duties last week as editor of the Tracy Headlight-Herald, according to Publisher Victor Keul and Business-Advertising Manager Jim Keul. The elder Keul has served as editor of the newspaper many years, but now that responsibility will be shifted to Jensen who comes to Tracy after 2-1/2 years as a reporter-photographer of the Detroit Lakes Newspapers, one of the largest twinweekly newspaper operations in Minnesota. Keul however, will still be extensively involved in the operation.

Sept. 26, 1985 — Work to convert the former Tracy ‘’Hotel into apartment houses is underway. Owner of the building, Lester Fritz of Brainerd, began gutting the three-story brick building last week. Eventually he plans to virtually strip the structure down to a shell of walls, ceiling, and floors before beginning remodeling. Fritz said that although final blueprints have not been drafted, he hopes to renovate the building into nine apartment units.
The building has been vacant for the past several years. The building was condemned by the city of Tracy earlier this summer for not meeting building codes. Fritz was ordered to either tear down the structure or renovate it.

The 31-year-old physician was taken around town to meet people Monday and saw his first patients at the Tracy Medical Clinic Tuesday. Wednesday, the physician met other hospital and clinic staff at a special breakfast meeting. Later in the day he was slated to move into a Tracy apartment. “I am very happy to be here,” the Philippine native said.

Sept. 28, 2005 — A campaign has been launched to raise $350,000 for Tracy Kid’s World, the 11,500 square foot daycare center planned near Tracy Elementary School. The money would be coupled with $1,360,000 in federal loans and loan guarantees. Louise Noomen, who has been spearheading the Tracy Kid’s World application with the federal government’s Rural Development agency, is upbeat about the fundraising. “Yes, I’m optimistic that we’ll reach the goal,” she said.

Sept. 30, 2015 — Motorists are asked to not drive or park on Morgan Street in downtown Tracy this week, as grading crews prepare the street for paving. City Administrator Mike Votca said Tuesday that paving work on Morgan is likely to begin Friday or Monday. He based that projection on a Tuesday morning meeting with representatives of Duininck Construction, the general contractor for the downtown street and utility project; and the I&S Group, the city’s consulting engineers.
