Shutting down coal plants to cool planet ‘complete nonsense’
A few decades ago, we were initiated into the doctrine that global warming is caused by burning fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas), and that we need to replace those fuels by going electric and generating that power with wind turbines and solar panels.
Recently, I discovered that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, (IPCC) a non-scientific organization, has been inverting the data regarding the increase in solar radiation absorption by the planet; a distortion that makes things look like human CO2 emissions are the primary cause of the warming. See link: https://iowaclimate. org/ 2024/ 07/ 26/ nikolov- zellermisrepresentation- of-critical-satellitedata- by-ipcc/ That statement seems to vindicate my dozens of editorials over the last 16+ years in over a half dozen newspapers detailing why global warming is not caused by man’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. I received feedback, but never any solid rebuttals using empirical evidence detailing how man’s puny 0.0016% of atmospheric gases (CO2) can jerk the global climate system around.
So how does one know if global warming is rising because of man-made CO2, or, if it rising because earth’s temperature is rising? Actually, it appears CO2 is rising because the earth’s temperature is rising. Research data is telling us that a rise in atmospheric CO2 lags behind a rise in temperature by nine to 12 months — ‘Not’ the other way around. See link: https:// www. sciencedirect. com/ journal/global-and-planetary-change/ vol/100/suppl/C Two main things that can cause a rise in earth’s temperature: 1. We have over 43,000 under sea volcanoes, and a 40,000 mile long volcanic undersea mountain range whose CO2 and heat emissions we mostly do not monitor. The water in some of these places gets up to 700 degrees. The heat is being carried off by complex ocean currents that can have enormous effect on global climate. Vortices form around those mountains; we don’t have a complete picture on what they are doing. It’s simple: Heat up a can of soda, and the fizz (CO2) goes out. Heat up the earth’s oceans, and atmospheric CO2 content rises. And that’s OK, CO2 is plant food; a plus for farmers.
2. Common sense would tell us that if there is an increasing amount of sunlight not being reflected back into space; then we should see an increase in global temperature. Satellite data tells us that the reduction of sulfate and nitrate air pollution particles since 2000 is resulting in less sunlight being reflected back into space, contributing to global warming, as Paul Voosen explained, writing in July for Science.org. Conversely, Ma Nature can cool things down when she blasts volcanic ash into the atmosphere to block the sun rays; witness the ‘Year without Summer’ in 1816 resulting from the Mt. Tambora eruption.
Between 2010 and May 2019, 290 coal power plants, or 40% of the U.S. coalgenerating capacity, closed permanently. The result? CO2 just kept rising.
In 2023, Xcel shut down the coal fired Sherco unit 2 in Becker, with a capacity to power 25% of Minnesota homes. https:// www.americanexperiment.org/pourone- out-for-sherburne-county-unit-2/ Meantime, China is not shutting down its coal plants but is adding another 100,000 mega-watts of new coal capacity. China burns 40% more coal than the rest of the world combined.
Shutting down our coal plants to reduce atmospheric CO2 and cool the planet is complete nonsense.
The whole “Net Zero Carbon” sloganeering propaganda is all about making money and steering the public into falsely believing climate change will get worse unless we cut down CO2 emissions.
