Excerpts from past Tracy newspapers Oct. 13, 1955 — The Scrappers beat Slayton 41-20 on the strength of three touchdown passes and a scoring run from quarterback Roger Kerr. Two of his touchdown passes were to Dick Sammons.
Oct. 14, 1965 — Alan Johnston, 11-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Johnston, had the high score and along with 13 others received prizes in a Punt, Pass & Kick contest.
Oct. 9, 1975 — David Stengaard, who is four weeks removed from breaking both wrists in a fall from a tree, won first place at this year’s Punt, Pass & Kick contest. Other firstplace winners were Kevin Engelkes, age 8; Bryan Koopman, age 9; David Engesser, age 10; Kent Johnston, age 11; and Mark Daniels, age 12.
Oct. 10, 1985 — Shorty Engel’s Scrapper volleyball team beat Minneota in three games. Leading the way in serving were Shari Heidebrink, Carin Creager, Kathy Jacobson and Katie Bottin.
Oct. 11, 1995 — The Tracy-Milroy volleyball team upped their season record to 16-3 with a 3-0 win over MACCRAY at Clara City Thursday night. Chris Brink led T-M in hitting with 11 kills and was followed by Kris DeRuyck with 8. Nancy Ankrum was 16 of 17 serving and had 6 aces. Brink was 11 of 11 with 3 acess.
Oct. 12, 2005 — Emily Miller led the Panthers with 10 kills and nine digs, Rachel Gervais served 11 of 11 with one ace, Michelle Lanoue had seven kills, nine digs and two blocks, Jackie Haecherl served 14 of 15, and Sarah Fritz had nine digs while Krysta Tholen had 22 set assists and two blocks in a 3-0 Panther win over MACCRAY.
Oct. 14, 2015 — TMB beat RTR in a Section 3A playoff game behind 209 yards passing and two touchdowns from Brett Swenhaugen. Josh Kirk had five catches for 110, and rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns.
