For the first time in Tracy Area Gardens and Quilts Tour history, it rained. Luckily it only dampened the flowers, not spirits.
Last Wednesday, hundreds of people went on the 9th annual tour. After some impromptu showers around 3 p.m., the tour was able to continue without any more rain. While quilts had to be moved inside to sheds and onto porches, people flocked with umbrellas to the gardens.
St. Mary’s Pies were served at Breezy Barn, and featured sites from Tracy to Currie. Two of the sites were located on Bloody Lake and Lake Shetek.
At Jesse James’ garden site on the Bloody, many of the quilts were able to stay protected under the cover of trees while it sprinkled. A self-proclaimed scavenger, his unique garden featured fences made of old telephone poles, and lots of bird figurines.
