Jack Miller was born on March 17, 1935, in Hendricks, to Ruby (Christiansen) and John Miller II. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith the following day, on March 18, 1935, and confirmed on June 14, 1950, at Singsaas Lutheran Church near Hendricks. Jack began his education at country school District 70 outside of Hendricks. In 1952, the family moved to Ruthton, where Jack continued his schooling and attended high school. In 1959, he enrolled at the Lee School of Barbering in St. Paul, launching a lifelong career. He worked for two years in St. Peter and later owned his own barber shop in Butterfield for a year.

On June 25, 1961, Jack married Jean Andersen at Hope Lutheran Church in Ruthton. The following year, they moved to Tracy, where Jack purchased a barber business he would operate for the next 50 years, retiring in 2012. Alongside his work as a barber, Jack also delivered mail for several years. Jack was a dedicated member of Tracy Lutheran Church, where he ran the soundboard for the radio broadcasts. He also volunteered his time with the Wheels Across the Prairie Museum, contributing to his community in meaningful ways. Jack loved the peaceful life on his 5.5-acre property, where he raised a variety of animals, including sheep, pigs, peacocks, chickens, dogs, and his beloved Belted Galloway “Oreo” cows. He had a passion for playing cards, trips to the casino, farming and most of all, spending quality time with his family and friends.

Jack is survived by his special friend Wendy Sellman of Tracy; brother Gary Miller of Pipestone; sistersin- law: Norma Miller and Joyce Miller; brother-in-law Clarence Lamp; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
