A 36-year-old Tracy woman is facing a pair of felony charges stemming from an early-morning Sept. 28 altercation at Breezy Barn on 52 Tepeeotah Road in Murray County.
Sheena Marie Schons faces one count of 2nd Degree Assault and one count of 3rd Degree Assault after allegedly hitting a person with a beer bottle, causing what was called a large laceration” on the left side of the victim’s head above her eye. The incident took place at 1:06 a.m. on Sept. 28.
According to the incident report, a Murray County Deputy did not notice any active bleeding upon arrival, but that she was “covered in blood.”
According to the report, the deputy was told by the victim that she and Schons had been involved in an argument. At one point, Schons walked up behind the victim and struck her in the head with the bottle. Schons was said to have fled the scene immediately, but returned to the Murray County Sheriff’s Office the next day to drop off a written statement. There, she was arrested and held for court.
The victim was brought to the emergency room at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center.
The deputy was told by the manager that the video of the incident was not accessible after the incident but that the manager would contact the Sheriff’s Office later. Deputies spoke with others at the bar who said they didn’t see the assault and refused to give statements. Attempts to locate Schons were unsuccessful.
The 2nd Degree Assault carries a maximum sentence of seven years and/or a $40,000 fine; the 3rd Degree Assault charge caries a maximum sentence of five years, a $10,000 fine or both.
