Remember When

Nov. 3, 1955 — Les Borner was elected president of the Tracy Kiwanis Club at the weekly luncheon meeting. Other officers named were Wendel Anderson, vice president; Robert Velta, secretary; and Jim Ohland, treasurer. Directors elected were Arvin Larson, E.S. Mattson, Merrill Starr and J.E. Keller.

Nov. 4, 1965 — Long time efforts to provide this community with a modern nursing home became a reality last Thursday when a site east of the municipal hospital was staked out and basement dug for the institution to be known as Christian Manor. The 67bed nursing home is being sponsored by the Minnesota Church of Christ with the Rev. Homer Dobson of this city instrumental in securing and making arrangements for establishment of the home here.

Oct. 30, 1975 — John R. Kern, 21, of Faribault, now a student at Southwest State University in Marshall, has been hired as the new fulltime manager of the Tracy Area Chamber of Commerce. He was selected by a special five-man committee of the Chamber.

Oct. 31, 1985 — The Bernie VanMoers found out Sunday just how valuable friends are. Neighbors came with seven combines and harvested bean fields. Earlier this fail Mr. VanMoer had heart surgery and is not supposed to work. Bernie and Louise watched the harvest and lunch was served afterward.

Nov. 2, 2005 — Murrayland Agency, Inc. has opened an office in Downtown Tracy. The real estate and insurance is located at 125 Third Street, just south of Charter Communications and John’s Drug. “We are really excited to be here,” said Realtor Luann Hansen. The agency specializes in real estate sales and insurance. Hansen will oversee the firm’s real estate operations, with Loretta Gervais in charge of Murrayland’s insurance business.Regular office hours will be 9 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Nov. 4, 2015 — Personal Best Sports & Fitness, LLC, owned by John Schuh, and Farm Bureau Financial Services, run by Josh Schmidt, are opening in downtown Tracy.
