rear-ended on the tracks
A SPERRY HI-RAIL TRUCK WAS REAR-ENDED BY A FREIGHT TRAIN on Monday afternoon at 290th Ave. just north of Lyon County Road 14, a few miles east of Garvin. According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, there were two people in the truck — one jumped out, and the other received a cut to the head and was transported to Sanford Tracy. Both the truck and train were headed east. The Tracy Fire Department and Tracy Ambulance were dispatched to the scene at 3:11 p.m. Hi-rail trucks are road vehicles that have been modified with retractable wheels so they can travel on tracks; they are used to travel on the tracks for maintenance and repair jobs.
